Field QC Manager
The APTIM Federal Services, LLC team was recently awarded several contract task orders by the Navy at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, San Francisco, CA. Our team will remove environmental and radiological contaminants from impacted property, re-investigate areas of concern, restore the shoreline, and construct seawalls along the San Francisco Bay waterfront. Hunters Point Naval Shipyard is among the most well-known environmental restoration projects in the United States. We are seeking ambitious Construction Field Engineers who will embrace the technical and operational challenges of a high profile and critically important redevelopment project executed to the highest technical and data integrity standards as set forth by APTIM, the Navy, federal and state regulatory agencies, and the neighboring community.
Project responsibilities involve working closely with field QC inspectors and the project engineering staff to conduct field quality control (QC) inspections of environmental cleanup as well as shoreline revetment and seawall construction performed by our subcontractors. In addition to work at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, additional project sites are located at former military installations in the San Francisco Bay area.
Previous field QC manager experience should be related to environmental remediation, site restoration, and shoreline restoration projects. Experience on projects involving low level radiological contamination is a plus. We are seeking project team members possessing effective planning, organization, and communication skills (both written and oral).
Managing Project Quality Control Plan implementation by the project team
Managing the QC process (USACE/NAVFAC 3 Phases of Control) for tasks described in the Project QC Plan, which are based on project requirement documents
Involving the engineering team in development of field QC inspection plans and checklists for environmental and civil work performed by subcontractors
Reviewing, approving and tracking construction submittals
Conducting weekly project meetings with staff, subcontractors and customer representatives
Writing clear and concise reports
Implementing a tracking system for nonconforming materials, tests and field work
Coordinating field inspections and testing with Government Quality Assurance (QA) staff
B.S. in Engineering, Physical Science or Construction Technology/Management is preferred.
