    There are a lot of activities that happen in our stores, so we have 2 operations teams to make sure things run smoothly: Store Operations team and Services Operations team. Store Operations leads all operations in the core section of our stores including merchandise execution, process improvement, associate engagement, live pet care, and labor optimization. Our Services group leads all the efforts for Pet Grooming, PetsHotel, Doggie Day Camp and Pet Training. Both teams work hard to take care of our associates, pets, and pet parents while also working to grow this unique piece of our business.

    About the Job


    This role's primary responsibility is the overall management of the enterprise's Workforce Management System (WFM), with respect to on-going performance, enhancements, updates and ease-of-use. This position is also responsible for the development, maintenance, and optimization of engineered labor standards to ensure proper functionality within the scheduling system.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Responsible for managing and assisting with all technical aspects of the labor software from maintenance, development, configuration, testing and deploying aspect. Ensuring the software is working properly to assist the stores in managing their schedules and labor as well as meeting the financial needs of the business.

    • Leads the identification, development, and enhancement of the WFM system (Kronos Workforce Central) and related databases and BI processes including any changes to system configuration to ensure guidelines are properly reflected in the Workforce Management System or other respective labor models.

    • Performs and/or manages consultants, interns, and/or contractors in the completion of time studies intended to develop, improve, or validate current or future engineered standards for use in the WFM system and retail store labor allocations.

    • Acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) with respect to store labor allocations, best method development, engineered standards and time-study processes. Partner with various internal and external partners on any needed initiatives and projects to ensure labor allocations, cost/benefit determinations, and store process are understood and considered.

    • Identifies, evaluates, and defines impacts of changes, provide alternatives both to physical and process options inclusive of upstream and downstream components, and communicates as needed.

    • Leads and/or support cross-functional and cross-departmental projects with high complexity and cross-organizational impacts. Has the ability to conceptualize, document, and communicate solutions to meet business objectives. Completes required analysis along with design and development of deliverable documentation. Ensure that all labor standards projects proceed according to plan to meet appropriate deadlines and communicate results effectively to the business.

    • Designs, improves, establishes, and maintains engineered labor standards. Works closely with the Labor Operations teams (Core and Services) to ensure all labor standards are functioning properly within the scheduling system.

    • Partners with Field Support analyst to interpret, and act upon Field feedback relative to the areas of responsibility, when necessary and assists with answering regarding labor standards.


    • Previous experience with WFM systems is required. Retail store operations experience preferred.


    • 4 or more years related experience and m ust demonstrate proficiency in utilizing workforce management, payroll, and/or related ERP systems such as Kronos and SAP and SQL.

    • Strongly prefer experience with Microstrategy, Alteryx, and VBA.

    • Project management skills preferred.

    • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in industrial engineering, systems, process improvement, finance or related field preferred.

    • This position has no budget responsibility. However, this role is critical in ensuring the enterprise achieves financial goals related to retail store productive labor.

    • No direct supervisory responsibility.

    • Must have excellent written and oral communications skills.

    • Must be proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite required including intermediate to advanced Excel and Access application skills.

    • Must have strong organizational skills.
