    Basic Qualifications :

    • Pursuing a Bachelor's (sophomore year or higher) or Master's degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Biological/Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or related field.

    Required skills:

    • *Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture/aseptic technique, and cell biology techniques

    • Experience with plate-based methods

    • *Basic understanding of general concepts of cell biology, biochemistry, and laboratory procedures

    • *Ability to work in Biosafety Level 2 environment and follow lab safety procedures

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (excel, PowerPoint, word).

    • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; able to effectively communicate with supervisor and team members

    • *Highly organized with a keen attention to details

    Project Description : Please provide a comprehensive description of the assignment(s).

    We are seeking a highly motivated co-op student to join the Bioassay team within MSAT Analytical Science and Technology (AST). The major role of the co-op is to be involved in bioassay method development. This requires extensive and dedicated work. The co-op will be working on development and optimization of proliferation assay, binding assay, and other cell-based assays.

    Key Deliverables at Project Completion :

    • Develop cell-based assays (e.g., proliferation assay, cell surface binding assay)

    • Evaluate assay performance: robustness, precision, accuracy, linearity etc

    • The prospective co-op will give a final presentation detailing the project

    Key Learnings:

    • Gain experience in cell-based assays and assay development processes

    • Participate in and learn about data analysis for bioassays, including bioassay statistical analysis

    • Proficiency in electronic notebook record keeping
