Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic Flight Hardware Test Engineer (Test Director/Conductor) who is fueled by troubleshooting, problem-solving, continuous curiosity, a drive to understand our world, science/technology, and life itself, all for the benefit of humankind on Earth and beyond.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • This is not a software testing position.

    • Coordinate test operations for one or some of the following test capabilities: Thermal and TVAC chambers, Shock and Vibration tables, Shakers, EMI/EMC chambers, Pressure systems, Modal and Static Load assemblies, or other pieces of test equipment.

    • Plan, schedule, prepare, coordinate, direct, and exercise functional authority for completion of tests to satisfy Axiom Station requirements.

    • Perform all functional duties of a test director including but not limited to: interpret test requirements from the customer and develop design solutions, test planning and development, scheduling & coordination with internal & external support agencies, cost estimation, risk assessment & mitigation, test buildup design & approval, directing test execution, and summary reporting.

    • Serve as project manager for major test buildups to include schedule integration and budget tracking.

    • Write test plans, test procedures and presentations.

    • Collaborate with design engineers for Test Support Equipment development.

    • Perform Job Hazard Analyses and Test Readiness Reviews.

    • Define, create, and manage integrated and element level test plans, procedures, and schedule across all engineering teams.

    • Help defining test workflows, documentation, processes, and procedures.

    • Adhere to appropriate safety, quality, and environmental practice, as well as business ethics practices.

    • Overcome off-nominal conditions and adverse situations while maintaining tests and projects on schedule and budget.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, aerospace, electrical or related discipline).

    • Master's Degree in a STEM field, preferred.

    • A minimum of 3 years of experience working in Aerospace flight hardware test ( Not software ).

    Experience

    Experience in two or more of the following areas is strongly desired. Your application will be considered even if you do not have experience in all areas.

    • Operating or using any of the following: Thermal and TVAC chambers, Shock and Vibration tables, Shakers, EMI/EMC chambers, Pressure systems, Modal and Static Load assemblies, or other pieces of test equipment.

    • Testing of space-related hardware (flight or non-flight) components or systems.

    • Knowledge of Power Spectral Density Plots, Structures Testing, Thermal Testing or Vacuum Testing.

    • Test operations and execution activities (Test Director/Test Conductor/Test Engineer).

    • Knowledge of systems and materials requirements for the handling of flight hardware in cleanrooms.

    • Familiar with Government or commercial spaceflight programs.

    • Familiar with the product life cycle of aerospace hardware.

    • Familiar with 2D/3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, or Rhino.

    • Familiar with electronic instrumentation, LabView, sensors (accelerometers, strain gauges, thermocouples, etc.), actuators or mechanical stands or testbeds.

    • Project management - agile/scrum methodologies (preferred).

    Work Environment: Generally, the work will be split between the office and lab environment, but can involve outside work depending on the task.

    Requirements

    • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

    • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

    • This position requires to be in-person in Houston, TX ( no remote or hybrid )

    Physical Requirements

    • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

    • This job requires working with energized electrical and mechanical equipment.

    • Should be able to kneel, and go up and down ladders to work on equipment and machines.

    • Should be able to work with standard office equipment (laptop, printer, etc.)

    Skills

    • Multitasker: Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills for successful coordination with multiple stakeholders, with different backgrounds, for the execution of tests.

    • Strong attention to detail while appreciating the bigger picture of the complex and ambitious projects that we take on.

    • Comfortable working with high-voltage, high-pressure, high-vacuum systems.

    • Ability to read mechanical or electrical schematic.

    • Troubleshooting skills

    • Electro-Mechanical aptitude.

    • Strong adherence to safety practices.

    • Excellent writing and presentation skills with experience communicating to senior decision-makers and technical audiences.

    • Excellent organizational skills.

    • Result oriented personality with a creative approach to problem solving.

    • Ability to work in a team environment.
