    Sign-On/Retention Bonus of $2500

    This is a full-time, 40 hr/week day-shift position working Monday - Friday, with shifts from 6:30am - 5:00pm and 7:00am-5:30pm.

    Collects blood samples from patients of all ages. Identifies patients and procures samples.

    We are also offering a $2500 sign-on/retention bonus for this position. *The bonus is available for external hires only and certain conditions apply.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides appropriate donor greeting and directs donor to read educational materials.

    • Performs donor interview, obtaining accurate and complete medical history information.

    • Determines donor suitability utilizing donor guideline manual and department reference materials.

    • Performs whole blood phlebotomy and automated apheresis donations.

    • Labels sample tubes and collection packs. Completes all records. Performspost-collection handling of products per FDA guidelines.

    • Prepares components from centrifugation, separation, mixing, labeling, and with accurate verification of records and data entry into computer system.

    • Using Current Good Manufacturing Practices, records the results of all procedures performed.

    • Performs appropriate Quality Control and Preventive Maintenance procedures.

    • Assists other Blood Donor Center staff in the management of reactions and medical emergencies.

    • Maintains equipment and stocks supplies.

    • Maintains complete confidentiality of donor information and records, as outlined by the DHMC Privacy/Confidentiality/HIPPA policies.

    • Knows and adheres to safety/infection control techniques.

    Qualifications

    • High school graduate or the equivalent required.

    • Formal phlebotomy training required.

    • Apheresis experience preferred.

    • 1 year phlebotomy experience preferred.

    • 1 year of medical/technical experience desired.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

    • Proven work experience with the public.

    • Strong computer ability desired.

    • Applicant must be honest, dependable, able to multi-task, and be detail oriented.

    Required Licensure/Certifications

    • Certified Phlebotomist, ASCP within 8 months of employment.

    • BLS required within 30 days of employment
