    Job Summary:

    Key Responsibilities

    • Direct psychological consultations in the context of a multidisciplinary team, comprehensive evaluations, individual and group interventions related to Down syndrome and neurodevelopmental disabilities.

    • Individual and multidisciplinary comprehensive assessment of developmental behavioral concerns.

    • Faculty participates and contributes to the training of psychology externs, interns, and post-doctoral fellows as well as medical students, residents, and fellows. Training may include supervision and didactic presentations.

    • Faculty contribute to program development including involvement in ongoing QI projects.

    • Faculty is expected to demonstrate scholarly interest and activity. This may include clinical research, developing new treatments, literature reviews, and involvement in the development of training or clinical guidelines related to the field of developmental behavioral conditions.

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    • Candidates must be eligible for licensure, or a licensed psychologist in Colorado.

    • Graduate of an accredited Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology program or the equivalent.

    • Graduate of an APA accredited psychology internship.

    • Postdoctoral Fellowship in Developmental Disabilities or the equivalent Complies with hospital and medical staff by-law requirements of the job.

    Condition of Employment:

    • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado

    • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • A history of successful academic and scholarly activity related to the field of clinical psychology.

    • A history of interest and demonstrated success in clinical and scholarly activity in the field of developmental behavioral pediatrics.

    • Demonstrated evidence-based assessment with developmental behavioral conditions.

    • Demonstrated evidence-based treatment/intervention expertise with developmental behavioral conditions.

    • Demonstrated teaching and training experience in psychology and developmental pediatrics.

    • 3 or more years' experience pediatric neurodevelopmental disabilities.

    • 3 or more years' experience as a psychologist doing pediatric diagnostic assessments.

    • Experience with psychological and developmental testing protocols

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Demonstrable familiarity with a range of developmental behavioral conditions.

    • Familiarity and expertise with evidence-based assessment instruments used with children and adolescents with Down syndrome and neurodevelopmental disabilities.

    • The ability to provide thoughtfully planned evidence-based intervention and treatment for children, adolescents and/or their families with Down syndrome and neurodevelopmental disabilities.

    • The ability to create strong and respectful relationships with patients and colleagues.

    • Curiosity about the impact of neurodevelopmental disabilities and the impact on social cognition, adaptive functioning, and cognitive abilities.

    • Ability to appropriately conceptualize for parents and professionals autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, developmental strengths and challenges, and the relationship between test results, functioning and recommendations for intervention.

    • Willingness and interest in supporting families with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

    • The ability to embrace and help to sustain a vibrant, positive team environment with respect for providers, support staff, and patients.

    • Psychologists can provide supervision of clinical services and professional development guidance to trainees.

    • Patient and family centered approach for supporting individuals with Down syndrome and or neurodevelopmental disabilities.

    The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Developmental Pediatrics and the Sie Center for Down Syndrome at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking a full-time psychology faculty member. Developmental Pediatrics and the Sie Center are part of the Neuroscience Institute at Children's Hospital Colorado, which also includes Child Neurology and Neurosurgery. We have developed a close collaboration with many subspecialists within the hospital and work closely with Child Psychiatry, Genetics, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Special Care Clinic, Pulmonary, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, the Speech Language and Audiology Department, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy with ample collaborative opportunities. This position will be at our Children's Hospital Colorado location at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora and/or Network of Care sites across the metropolitan. We provide multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary consultation, developmental assessments, and intervention individuals and their families with a wide array of developmental and behavioral concerns including Down syndrome and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. We fully embrace a neurodiversity perspective with an emphasis on skill building to maximize every individual's full potential. We also serve a culturally and linguistically diverse population and support families in their preferred language and cultural values. This psychologist will provide evidence based clinical assessment, intervention, and consultation working with a team of experts in their respective fields in Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, and other neurogenetic conditions including intellectual disability, and developmental delays. In addition to clinical excellence, faculty is expected to demonstrate skills and experience in the field developmental disabilities and excellence in training as well as research or scholarship.
