    Summary:

    The System AVP of Finance/Corporate Controller is a member of the leadership team of RUSH Corporate Finance whose primary role is to provide operational leadership and financial management expertise to manage corporate reporting and accounting functions by overseeing the completion of various financial reports, guiding team operations, collaborating with key stakeholders and developing strategies and initiatives for continuous process improvements to ensure alignment with department standards and company objectives for the RUSH System. The System AVP/Corporate Controller reports directly to the Vice President Corporate Finance and Financial Operations and ensures the accuracy and timeliness of the financial statements of the Rush System which includes Rush University Medical Center, Rush Health, all joint ventures, and oversees Rush Copley, all in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as well as the oversight of those areas/processes contributing to the accuracy of the financial statements as evidenced by the results of the annual audit process. Direct oversight of areas includes General Accounting, Grant Accounting, Fixed Assets, Taxation, University Financial Affairs, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Net Revenue and Reimbursement, of Rush University Medical Center, Rush Oak Park Hospital, Rush Health, and various affiliates. This role is responsible for implementing, documenting, and maintaining effective processes to improve the financial close and reporting processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results.     Required Job Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business

    • Ten or more years of hospital/healthcare finance and accounting experience

    • Seven to ten years of progressively increasing management experience

    • Multiple site and multiple entity experience

    • Certified Public Accountant designation inclusive of public accounting experience

    • Analytical ability

    • Strong communication skills and leadership presence

    • Advanced information systems and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)

    • Ability to interact effectively with others in difficult situations

    • The ability to check documents for errors, use a keyboard to enter or retrieve data, and closely examine reports

    Preferred Job Qualifications:

    • MBA preferred

    • Accountable Care Organization Experience

    • Both Taxable and Non-taxable entity experience

    Physical Demands:

    • Demonstrates confidence in interacting with the executive management, physician leaders, and all levels of personnel within the finance, information systems, and strategic planning functions of the Medical Center.

    • Assists with building, developing, and managing special projects by centralizing data and collaborating with internal stakeholders to streamline accounting and reporting functions and efficiencies.

    • Acts as a point of contact within area of responsibility by assisting with audit requirements, prioritizing tasks, and escalating complex inquiries to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely delivery of data.

    • Manages a performance enhancement culture by actively coaching and mentoring direct reports, providing regular feedback, and developing employees for wider roles and responsibilities to foster professional growth and development.

    • Provides Financial Management Leadership

    • Develops the financial skills of the Directors and other staff with regard to professional development and ongoing financial management.

    • Drives financial performance through the use of financial and management systems.

    • Provides supervision and mentoring for the staff members in the Department.
