  • Job Description

    An employer in the utilities industry in San Diego is looking for an AWS Cloud Data/Domain Architect to join the team. This person's primary role will be to design and optimize cloud-based data solutions within the AWS ecosystem. The AWS Cloud Data/Domain Architect will ensure that these solutions are both scalable and efficient by collaborating with cross-functional teams and implementing data strategies to align with the organization's goals. This person will develop and maintain data pipelines using AWS Glue and other relevant AWS services--additionally, they'll leverage tools like Athena, Python, and PySpark to effectively manage and analyze large datasets. The AWS Cloud Data/Domain Architect will work closely with the Data Analytics & Reporting Director to provide managerial visibility across the organization and identify opportunities for optimization and process improvement. About 50% of this person's day will be spent solutioning and they will split their time between enhancing existing systems and overseeing the architectural direction. This balance of hands-on work and strategic oversight is essential for driving the team's data initiatives forward. The team is looking for someone who is passionate about combining their technical expertise with visionary thinking.

    Skills and Requirements

    5-10 years of experience working in the data architecture space

    Strong past performance working on projects within AWS and data space -- able to showcase best data practices

    Advanced data processing/analytics knowledge and hands-on experience using S3 and Athena

    Advanced understanding of Lake Formation and data mesh architecture

    Hands-on experience setting up data pipelines using the Glue Catalog

    5+ years of experience using Python and PySpark for programming

    Must be able to generate vision to optimize the group's data strategies

    Able to work cross-functionally across multiple teams Experience within the Utilities Industry

    Cloud Data / Architect Certifications null
