Wabtec is seeking a Buyer who will be responsible for the evaluation and approval of vendors and authorized purchase orders for goods and services. Need to be familiar with a variety of field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Some of the job responsibilities of this position include

• Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

• Selects products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items. Selects suppliers with Supply Chain Manager based on criteria such as quality certification, capacity analysis, financial analysis, etc.

• Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

• Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.

Must have knowledge of

• Negotiation skills.

• Knowledge of business math.

• Effective communication skills (verbal, written and listening).

• Knowledge of general office practices.

• PC skills.

• Problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

• Customer service and telephone etiquette.

• Organizational skills.

• Ability to work effectively under pressure.

• MRP System.

Minimum Qualifications for this position require bachelor's degree or equivalent with 2+ years of experience. Strong organizational ability and excellent attention to detail. Ability to multitask; follow-p and meet deadline.
