    Job Overview:

    Performs Preventive Maintenance, Troubleshoots, installs, services & repairs all makes and models, and types of

    commercial food preparation, storage, and sanitation appliances and equipment, including gas and electric stoves,

    conventional and convection ovens, walk-in and reach in refrigerators, dishwashers, steam operated, electrical, and gas

    commercial, and industrial appliances. Connects appliances to power sources and gas lines. Uses mechanic hand tools

    and electric test equipment. Follows manufactures' wiring diagrams to trace electrical circuits to locate shorts, fluid leak, or loose parts. Adjusts timers, calibrates thermostats, and adjusts gas regulators and burner airflow valves. Replaces worn or defective parts, such as switches, pumps, bearings, belts, gears, blowers, and defective wiring. Reassembles appliances, adjusts pulleys and belts, and lubricates moving parts.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

    • Installs and connects commercial appliances to power sources and gas lines.

    • Disassembles and troubleshoots commercial appliances to determine extent of repairs required.

    • Orders necessary repair parts and repairs appliances as required.

    • Handles and recover refrigerants as required by the EPA Final Rule for Stratospheric Ozone Protection.

    • Participation in functional specific safety training that will permit working safely.

    • Perform duties in lower related job classification.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.

    • Four (4) years' experience in the maintenance and repair of commercial and industrial appliances to include walk in refrigerators, dishwashers, gas and electrical conventional and convection ovens.

    • Must possess a valid California Driver's License.

    • Must be certified to Type 1 level in handling and recovery of refrigerants as required by the EPA Final Rule onStratospheric Ozone Protection.

    Physical Demands/Working Environment:

    • Ability to use technical manuals, and bulletins, manufacturers' specifications while performing maintenance, troubleshooting, or corrective repairs to commercial and industrial appliances.

    • Ability to accurately read measuring devices, testing equipment, or instruments.

    • Ability to use good judgment and common sense when performing job functions.

    • Ability to be punctual and perform tasks in a timely manner.
