    POSITION SUMMARY: The Cost Estimator is responsible for leading and managing all cost estimating services for capital projects. In this role, you will provide highly responsive cost management services working with the design, engineering & construction teams by developing project work breakdown structures, complete scope of work take-offs, construction means and methods, indirect field costs and managing third party Quantity Surveyor consultants. Responsibilities include but not limited to developing and ensuring estimating policies and procedures are understood, used, and executed, alignment with stakeholders across areas & business units, support in design review meetings, review third party estimates, develop detailed estimating plans for each project. This role will work closely with the Operations, Real Estate, Legal, IT, Finance, Facilities and Business Development teams.

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead estimating strategy and implementation efforts.

    • Develop and support ROI cost analysis for proposed solutions.

    • RFP/Bid package development, review, and recommendations.

    • Engineering documents review for gaps and overlaps in scope of work.

    • Responsible for the accuracy and validity of estimate clarifications and assumptions.

    • Create an impact to the organization through innovation

    • Define the strategic/tactical plans to develop/improve the estimating procedures to reduce cost and financial risks on projects.

    • Lead subcontractor pre-qualification, solicitation and bid reviews.

    • Estimate general conditions, indirect costs, and review with PM.

    • Track and monitor early cost estimates built by Models or ROMs used for decisions and validate with actual cost.

    • Perform local market research to ensure a constant pulse is maintained on the industry.

    • Review and validate construction cost estimates provided by the 3rd party Quantity Surveyor Consultants.

    • Responsible to setup and lead the trend log process to capture all design, market factors, execution, and procurement progression.

    • Responsible for project cost schedule development.

    • Lead and estimate major project risk assessments to ensure all estimates have captured the most possible cost outcome.

    • Review Pay applications, Change Orders, buyouts for the General Contractor, equipment vendors and consultants.

    • Deliver presentations to executive team and key stakeholders.

    • May require travel by air, car and/or other modes of transportation up to 20% of the time.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Working knowledge of construction contracts

    • Deep knowledge and experience of the commercial/industrial procurement of construction contracts and other related vendors/suppliers

    • Ability to understand contracts and financials and ability to negotiate with other parties.

    • Experience in construction location cost factors or market intelligence.

    • Experience with BIM cost estimating.

    • Certifications such as RICS (MRICS or FRICS) or ASPE (CPE or AEP) or ICEAA (PCEA) or equivalent.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 10-15 years of consistent cost estimating experience on large commercial or industrial construction portfolio
