    Job Summary:

    Examples of Work Performed:

    • Physician leadership of the operational functioning of the TID Program, in conjunction with partners in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, School of Medicine, and the Transplant Center.

    • Development and application of clinical guidelines, patient care practices, or health care delivery systems that improve the health and outcomes of patients undergoing solid organ transplantation.

    • Leadership of structured activities that promote a healthy workplace environment, quality of care, patient safety, high performing clinical teams, and clinical application of advancements in the field of Transplant Infectious Diseases.

    • Balancing competing priorities among multiple organizations including the Division of Infectious Diseases, the Transplant Center UCHealth, SOM, and CU Medicine.

    • · Serving as the point person for communications between providers and UCHA leadership regarding clinical operations, quality, safety, and patient, staff, and provider experience.

    • Coordination of the TID inpatient consult service with the Infectious Diseases Inpatient Services Director to maintain a high-quality program of TID inpatient consultation for patients with infectious complications of transplantation and patients undergoing evaluation for transplantation. Specific activities include assistance with scheduling of TID attending inpatient physicians and related staff, scheduling of call for TID-specific questions or concerns, development of treatment protocols for prevention and treatment of the common infectious complications in transplant recipients, and evaluation of adverse outcomes.

    • Coordination with Infectious Disease Group Practice Director to maintain a high-quality program of outpatient consultation for patients with infectious complications of transplant and patients undergoing evaluation for transplantation. This would include the development of clinic capacity with TID-trained or experienced providers to allow access for pre-transplant and post-transplant patients in a timely fashion, including the capacity to handle urgent referrals.

    • Collaboration with the Transplant Center physicians and staff regarding quality improvement initiatives for patients who have undergone transplantation or who are candidates for transplantation including standardized treatment protocols, clinical case reviews, and ongoing evaluation of outcomes attributable to transplant-related infections.

    • Oversight of other Transplant-related issues including on-call activities, donor calls, the development of treatment protocols, and selective attendance at Transplant meetings as needed for relevant infectious disease issues.

    • Assistance with recruitment of new TID faculty to maintain adequate coverage for inpatient and outpatient TID activities .

    • Participate in operations and management meetings including the Inpatient Clinical Leadership Meeting, Practice Operations Management Committee Meetings, and selected Transplant meetings regarding listings, selection meetings, and other Transplant Center meetings that address TID issues..

    • Participate in biweekly Division of Infectious Disease Leadership Meetings

    • Meet with the Clinical Director of Infectious Diseases and Medical Director of The Transplant Center at least monthly regarding TID program-related programs, new initiatives, and clinical issues/concerns.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    • Completion of an Infectious Diseases Fellowship and board-eligible or certified in Infectious Diseases

    • Additional TID experience, such as a Transplant Infectious Disease fellowship, a TID-weighted ID fellowship.

    • Solid practice and research experience in Transplant-related infectious diseases is prioritized.

    • Active clinical practice at UCH.

    • Appointment as full-time academic faculty at The University of Colorado School of Medicine (UCSOM).

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience in a clinical leadership role

    • A publication record in Transplant Infectious Diseases

Position Emphasis: The Medical Director for Transplant Infectious Disease (TID) oversees and coordinates Transplant Infectious Disease activities, including inpatient TID consultation, outpatient TID care, the development of treatment protocols, and other transplant-related activities in collaboration with the UCH Transplant Center. As a physician leader of Transplant Infectious Disease, the TID Medical Director is responsible for: Scope of Responsibility: The TID Medical Director activities include: Appointment: The Transplant Infectious Diseases Medical Director will be appointed by the Division Head of Infectious Disease and the Chair of the Department of Medicine with input from the Division's Associate Division Head for Clinical Affairs (AKA Clinical Director) and the Medical Director of the UCH Transplant Center. This appointment will be reviewed on an annual basis by the Clinical Director of Infectious Diseases and the Chair of the Department of Medicine, in collaboration and consultation with the Medical Director of the Transplant Center. Performance outcome will be assessed on the basis of the operational success of the inpatient and outpatient TID services, development and/or improvement of TID-related treatment protocols, participation in quality improvement activities, and attendance and participation in relevant TID-related meetings.

    The starting salary range () for this position has been established as $230,000 - $300,000.
