    Northrop Grumman is in need of a Electronic Technician Level 2 or 3 to work at its Elkton, Maryland facility.

    Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

    Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore.     The level to be hired will depend upon exhibited education, experience, and competency.

    Job Summary:

    This position works closely with Engineering to configure and execute testing operations including troubleshooting equipment, setup, fixturing, testing, equipment maintenance, documenting setup, and test results. Assists Engineers and Technicians with projects through building or procuring test equipment, setup, performing testing and process validations. Primary role is a Data Acquisition System Operator with secondary responsibilities as a back-up for video and photography.

    • Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks

    • Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data

    • Constructs, calibrates, adjusts and maintains equipment, components, devices or systems.

    • Works from schematics, engineering drawings and technical instructions.

    • Sets up and configures test equipment, systems, test articles, and software

    • Perform tests/experiments and records data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis

    • Utilizes various test instrumentation for data gathering

    • Reports data in prescribed format

    • Perform routine calculations using Excel or other related software and proficient in MS Office

    • Use a computer daily to perform testing operations. This includes using Excel and custom software.

    • Generates data plots

    Basic Qualifications Level 2:

    • High School Diploma and a minimum of two years related experience, or a technology degree / certificate, or military electronics experience.

    • Experience with electromechanical test equipment and systems.

    • Work requires the ability to use soldering techniques for building and repairing various types of electrical components including but not limited to circuit boards, cables and assemblies

    • Ability to follow strict safety protocols, elevate concerns, follow highly detailed instructions, document discrepancies and resolve conflicts in instructions, tasks or designs

    • Detail oriented and an ability to remain highly focused during complex test processes

    • Must be a US citizen and meet requirements to obtain a secret security clearance

    • Ability to lift 50 lbs on a routine basis

    • Strong fluency in Microsoft Office applications and possession of computer skills

    Basic Qualifications Level 3:

    • High School Diploma and a minimum of four years related experience, or a technology degree / certificate, or military electronics experience

    • Experience with electromechanical test equipment and systems

    • Work requires the ability to use soldering techniques for building and repairing various types of electrical components including but not limited to circuit boards, cables and assemblies

    • Ability to follow strict safety protocols, elevate concerns, follow highly detailed instructions, document discrepancies and resolve conflicts in instructions, tasks or designs

    • Detail oriented and an ability to remain highly focused during complex test processes

    • Must be a US citizen and meet requirements to obtain a secret security clearance

    • Ability to lift 50 lbs on a routine basis

    • Strong fluency in Microsoft Office applications and possession of advanced computer skills

    • Professional experience in photography and/or videography

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with test equipment and systems' interfaces, including installation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance of both analog and digital data acquisition systems

    • Experience must include: reading and interpreting schematic diagrams, operating a variety of test equipment, duties such as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, on electronic equipment, or similar functions

    • The ability to setup and install complex rocket motor test arrangements using engineering direction, drawings and instructions

    • Professional photography/videography experience

    This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location. Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.

    Salary Range: $50,600 - $84,300

    Salary Range 2: $60,100 - $100,100

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
