  • Description

    We seek a meticulous and detail-oriented Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The medical coder's primary responsibility will be to accurately assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to patient records in compliance with coding guidelines and regulations. The successful candidate will be vital in ensuring accurate documentation and reimbursement for medical services.

    Responsibilities

    • Review medical records and documentation to accurately assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS code sets.

    • Ensure coding compliance with federal regulations, insurance requirements, and organizational policies and procedures.

    • Work closely with healthcare providers and other staff to clarify documentation and obtain necessary information for accurate coding.

    • Resolve coding discrepancies and documentation issues through appropriate channels.

    • Stay current with changes and updates in coding guidelines, regulations, and industry trends.

    • Assist in developing and implementing coding policies and procedures to optimize accuracy and efficiency.

    • Collaborate with billing and reimbursement staff to facilitate timely and accurate claims submission.

    • Participate in coding audits and quality assurance activities to ensure coding accuracy and compliance.

    • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.

    • Provide coding-related education and training to healthcare providers and staff as needed.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification or equivalent required.

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical coding, with a focus on orthopedic coding preferred.

    • In-depth knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
