    ABOUT THE ROLE

    The Geospatial Technical Services Manager will act as the database administrator and data steward for geospatial data assets within the Geography team at CoStar. This position will play a critical role in modernizing our program by establishing standards for our data load process, maintaining version control and data quality standards, developing our technical architecture strategy, making GIS hardware and software licensing recommendations, and developing automated routines for publishing and validating geospatial data.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain current production and development geospatial databases, including monitoring and resolving database load and performance issues.

    • Deploy geospatial data updates within service level agreements and/or scheduled maintenance windows.

    • Manage the installation, configuration, upgrade, and troubleshooting of GIS software, including publication of web and map services, testing of database connectivity, and patching server infrastructure.

    • Enhance, optimize and maintain existing processes through greater automation.

    • Prepare detailed architecture documentation and data interdependency diagrams across the organization.

    • Provide recommendations to management for GIS software and hardware upgrades.

    • Maintain server infrastructure to support the ArcGIS Enterprise environment using infrastructure provisioning tools for data center and cloud environments.

    • Troubleshoot and resolve GIS system issues and provide enhanced remediation and mitigation solutions to help prevent repeat incidents.

    • Work closely with internal staff through all stages of projects - product/project ideation, business analysis, technical analysis and development, and project management and long-term support.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university Geographical Sciences, Computer Science, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or other related field.

    • 8+ years of GIS engineering experience, and/or deep database engineering experience.

    • 5+ years of experience working in design, development, deployment, and support of GIS solutions.

    • Advanced understanding of RDS and SQL technology; SQL query familiarity, to include the ability to write queries

    • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise setup, configuration and administration.

    • Experience with ArcGIS and Esri (Online, Pro, and Enterprise).

    • Experience managing other GIS Data Engineers and Analysts.

    • Advanced python scripting skills.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience with developing, maintaining, and the deployment of web-based GIS solutions using Javascript, HTML, CSS. Experience developing spatial data ETL scripts and tools using Python, or other scripting languages.

    • Experience with GIS workflow processes and QA/QC procedures. Experience creating GIS data layers and working with enterprise geodatabases.

    • Experience in implementing GIS technologies in a cloud environment.

    • Experience using MapInfo, Alteryx, and open source GIS tools.

    • Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to meet deadlines.

    • Communicates effectively with all levels of internal and external customers.

    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.

    • The ability to prepare and present complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
