  • Job Description:

    Assists patients with healthcare needs who are ill or recovering from surgery or disease. Certified Nurse Aides are assigned by an RN. The C.N.A. functions under the delegation of an RN. The Patient Greeter performs a variety of supportive tasks to assist patients and families. Performs routine and delegated duties according to departmental policies and provides assistance to the patients, families and floor staff by performing the following duties:

    Shift: Full time, Day shift - 30 hours/week

    • May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.

    • Carries out nursing care delegated by the RN.

    • Receives report from RN daily by 0830 or 2030 to coordinate plan of care related to ADL's. Documents all ADL's for each patient every shift.

    • Answers lights, or intercom system to determine patients' needs.

    • Assists patients in activities of daily living; ex: bathing, teeth brushed, linen change, pericare, walking.

    • Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help.

    • Transports patients or assists patients to walk.

    • Turns and repositions patients, as needed.

    • Runs errands, and directs visitors.

    • Participates in admission/discharge activities

    • Takes and records routine vital signs, daily weights, food and fluid intake and output, and documents information in a timely manner. Reports age specific variance to RN.Accurately documents the care provided to patient during shift.

    • Adheres to infection prevention strategies.

    • Stock rooms with supplies. Stock isolation racks with supplies.

    • Responsible to perform purposeful rounding.

    • Updates "care boards" to include name, plan related to ADL's, date

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES GREETER

    • Serves as the main greeter in the medical/surgical areas for patients and family members.

    • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of the patient and family.

    • Answers telephone, in accordance with the Service Excellence Behavior Standards.

    • Reports information in a timely manner.

    • Performs typing functions as needed.

    • Consults Nursing Supervisor and RN Shift Lead to determine flow of patients throughout the day.

    • Obtains and stocks coffee supplies for patient and family needs.

    • Maintain immediate availability to families to assist with questions or concerns for patients in the operating room or endoscopy department.

    • Act as a role model for orientation and training of other greeters (e.g. auxiliary volunteer) in the waiting room.

    • Communicates with patients and families and keeps them updated with progression of surgical/endoscopic cases.

    • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with organizational mission and goals.

    • Participates in facility Quality Improvement/IOP Program.

    • Demonstrates knowledge of patient flow within the surgical services department and able to communicate family needs to the surgical services associates.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    Required

    • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)

    • Current Montana C.N.A. certification required

    • BLS required within 60 days of hire

    The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

    $17.50 - $26.25
