Human Resources (HR) Assistant

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Human Resources (HR) Assistant based in SCRANTON, Pennsylvania, United States. In this role, you will be primarily focusing on establishing and driving safety initiatives within our workplace. The HR Assistant will also ensure that our practices and policies are compliant with legal and internal safety and environmental regulations, while continuously pushing for the improvement of our site safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Manage and administer site Environmental Health & Safety initiatives

• Implement and administer safety and health processes that proactively target injury/illness/incident prevention

• Oversee safety team initiatives and encourage employee participation as part of a strong safety culture

• Ensure compliance with state, local, and federal environment management/compliance requirements

• Conduct and/or coordinate regular OHSE training for co-workers, including new employees and continual education of existing employees

• Coordinate Environmental Health & Safety Management system and maintain applicable recordkeeping

• Oversee site Emergency Response team and facilitate annual training and certifications

• Lead internal and external safety/environmental audits

• Ensure proper and timely investigation of all near misses, injuries and other safety-related incidents that have occurred, including root cause analysis and company response

• Work with maintenance to establish preventative measures for all machines

• Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives

• Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

• Safety Audits Requirements

• Familiarity with Compliance procedures and practices

• Knowledgeable in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations

• Experience with conducting Safety Audits

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Proficient in using HR software and Microsoft Office Suite
