    The anticipated salary range for this role is between $95,000.00 and $155,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The IT Applications Manager role is a key position in the IT Application Engineering and Support team. As an IT Applications Manager, you will lead a team that identifies, implements, and supports software solutions to optimize business operations. You will collaborate with the business to ensure that the software solutions you manage align with the company's operational goals, help drive desirable business outcomes, and improve operational efficiency. You are tactically responsible for implementing the vision and strategy provided by senior leadership.

    The IT Application Manager directly supervises a team of application support and engineering staff. The role may also spend a portion of time directly contributing to implementation of projects. Additional responsibilities include supporting and communicating the technical and business direction shared by leadership as well as engaging with senior leadership and business stakeholder to ensure appropriate requirements, scope and timelines are achieved with implementation projects.

    PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Serve as the IT Owner of the commercial online banking & mobile platform, integrations, APIs and its overall ecosystem including engineering, enhancements, releases and ongoing maintenance/support

    • Own all mobile and online banking enhancements, upgrades and custom development

    • Contribute strategically and tactically to evolving market-driven, customer-centric products, and product efforts to ensure stakeholders and management remain aware of the value proposition

    • Lead technology research, product selection, and proof of concept processes where needed

    • Stay abreast of new and innovative trends in software development on the web and mobile platforms

    • Develop, identify, and document operational processes and procedures; assist with run book implementations where there are gaps.

    • Oversee technical solutions to confirm business requirements are met, adheare to methodology, SDLC process, and are compliant with the strategic architecture

    • Integrate automation into manual processes

    • Work with third-party application vendors on their roadmaps and any vulnerabilities

    • Manages Application Support and Engineering team including employees and vendors

    • Develop standards of excellence within the department and measure performance of staff against such measures

    • Attends meetings with stakeholders to communicate the purpose and capabilities of the department to ensure effective interface with existing operations

    • Interface with multiple stakeholders; conflicting priorities, communications ambiguous environment

    • Develop new UI features

    • Designs user-friendly interfaces, navigation menus, and digital layouts that ensure compatibility and usability across different browsers and devices

    • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability

    POSITION SPECIFICATION

    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Management of Information Systems, or significant years of technology field experience

    Experience

    • 10-15 years relevant application development work experience

    • 5+ years supervisory experience - Manage large and multipe teams

    • 5+ years experience in an enterprise application and project implementation of online banking systems or its ecosystem

    • 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer/Developer

    Skills/Qualifications:

    • Leadership and technical skills required to drive the delivery of service excellence with internal and external delivery teams

    • Hands on SDK to generate API integrations

    • Proven decision making and problem-solving skill

    • Demonstrated ability to interpret and translate technical and/or or complex concepts into information meaningful to project team members and/or business personnel

    • Proven leadership abilities that promote growth and development of employees

    • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and objectives in a rapidly changing environment

    • Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures

    • Experience in analyzing new technologies and system enhancements

    • Experience with API's, Web Services, REST, SOAP - is a plus

    • Scrum or other agile experience is a plus

    • Experience in leading the design, development, and maintenance of user-facing software applications (UI/UX development)

    • Experience with Microsoft end-to-end, Azure, C#, .NET Framework, SQL, Python and other scripting languages

    • Experience with CI/CD tools like GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube, Artifactory

    • Experience with log aggregation and monitoring tools like Splunk, CloudWatch, NewRelic, etc

    • Good understanding of cloud services like load balancers, storage, security groups, virtual machines. AWS and/or Azure Certifications are an added advantage

    • Good experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

    • Experience in full-stack software development using technologies, including Angular, HTML or HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JSON or XML, Ajax, SQL, Java, Python, Spring-Framework, SOA or RESTful patterns, JBoss or Wildfly, JMS, or Selenium
