IT Technical Intern
The Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) serves as the science operations center for several NASA missions, including the renowned Hubble Space Telescope and the upcoming James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). Our work extends to leading science and mission operations for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope.
STScI is excited to offer two paid internship positions as IT Technical Interns. This 10-week internship provides a unique opportunity to collaborate with various IT branches and departments, gaining exposure to diverse technical and business areas within Information Technology. The internship requires 40 hours per week, with on-site presence ranging from 1 to 5 days per week, depending on the technologies under review.
Specific IT Branches, Technologies, and Disciplines:
During the internship, you will have the opportunity to explore and contribute to the following areas:
IT Project Management Office (PMO):
Utilize waterfall, Agile, and hybrid frameworks,
focusing on portfolio, program, and project management,
resource and risk management, and
utilization of program and project management tools.

IT Processes and Frameworks:
Application and Data Services:
Engineering and Science Support:
IT Infrastructure Services:
Information Security and Network Services:
IT Support Services:
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
We're seeking interns who exhibit:
Technical aptitude and a desire to learn and experience various aspects of Information Technology.
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with IT staff members.
Openness to learning and collaborating with colleagues from diverse backgrounds, viewpoints, and styles.
Education/Experience/Certifications:
Qualified candidates should be currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
