Laboratory Technician 2 - Histology

Description

The Histology unit within the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine is seeking a Hospital Laboratory Technician to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to various tasks, including staining H&E and Special stains, tracking an average of 2000 stained slides for distribution, and covering the Histology help desk to respond to customer needs. Additional responsibilities encompass receiving and loading all grossed surgical specimens, changing reagents in tissue processors and stainers, maintaining quality control log sheets, filing specimen blocks and slides, organizing the laboratory, cleaning lab dishes, and tracking/ordering laboratory supplies.

Salary Range: $32.77/hour - $43.22/hour

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED or HiSET).

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

• Proficient in making reagents with accurate percentages.

• Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to speak clearly and distinctly to answer telephones and communicate with departmental and hospital personnel.

• Highly flexible with the capability to work alternative shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime based on operational needs.
