Overview

Archer Western/Traylor Bros. JV, a member of The Walsh Group is currently seeking an Manatee Watcher for the SETF / Howard Frankland Bridge, in Tampa, FL.

The Primary function of a Manatee Watcher is to oversee and observe manatees in the wild on the site of construction.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Understand federal and state requirements regarding the protection of threatened species in the ocean

• Observe manatees during designated times as instructed by the needs of the construction project

• Serve as the point of contact to alert construction project personnel when they are in the presence of manatees

• Report any collision or injury to or with manatees to the appropriate authorities

Qualifications

• Must be experienced in observing manatees in the wild on a construction project

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

• May be required to work in adverse weather conditions

• Requires the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures; communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly

• Possess a strong work ethic and desire to learn

• Requires good manual dexterity; may be standing, bending, kneeling or sitting for long periods

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
