  • Description

    The Quality Engineer ensures that products and processes meet established quality standards by identifying opportunities utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies. The Quality Engineer also fosters a "quality culture," in which all employees become actively engaged in guaranteeing quality across all facets of the organization. Perform all additional duties as requested by the Director of Quality.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Ensure a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigate (and correct) customer issues and complaints relating to quality.

    • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.

    • Formulate, document, and maintain quality control standards and ongoing quality control objectives.

    • Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.

    • Create, document, and implement inspection criteria and procedures.

    • Interpret quality control philosophy to key personnel within the company.

    • Provide, and oversee, improvement activity for product throughout product realization cycle.

    • Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.

    • Maintain and lead, where applicable, an active role on internal continuous improvement teams.

    • Design, develop and implement quality control training programs around Lean Manufacturing.

    • Develop inspection methods to analyze product quality using best practices across the organization.

    • Work together with relevant teams and departments to improve products and systems.

    • Ensure products adhere to company and industry quality standards.

    • Formulate a strategic plan to conduct Kaizen and other Lean events to increase productivity in the business.

    • Implement a working system to ensure conformity and accuracy in the production process.

    OTHER DUTIES

    • Reporting on the performance of the Quality System, quality objectives, and established metrics to the Director of Quality using sources of information such as rework reports, nonconformance reports, customer complaints and vendor performance reports, customer satisfaction data, and internal audits.

    • Coordinate with the assigned designee for the internal audit program, and ensuring timely corrective actions, and report all deficiencies found.

    • Reporting internal audit results and customer satisfaction performance data to the management review meetings.

    • Assisting responsibility for document control and maintenance of Quality and records.

    • Ensures the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the Organization.

    • Suggests alternative methods and procedures in solving problems and meeting changing market opportunities.

    • Cooperates with the Director of Quality in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures, and goals.

    • Recommends procedure changes as needed to address corrective actions in order to reduce/eliminate errors. Error proofing.

    • Reviews technical publications, articles, and abstracts to stay abreast of technical developments in the industry.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university with 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Experience and knowledge base of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems standards and Six Sigma Greenbelt.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Designated self-release program certificates for certain OEM customers.

    Internal auditing certificate to AS9100/ISO9001 standards.
