  • POSITION SUMMARY

    The Technologist is responsible for the training of laboratory technologists on new methods/instruments, coordinating and documenting safety and quality assurance procedures carried out in the laboratory. Participates in the development, maintenance and troubleshooting or methods/instruments. He/she is also responsible for the performance of all the duties of a Clinical Technologist IV as needed.

    SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION RECEIVED :

    Under supervision of the laboratory section Supervisor(s)/Director.

    SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED :

    May be responsible for designated laboratory section staff or shift/weekend supervision, or others as assigned.

    MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED :

    Standard office equipment such as telephone, calculator, copier, printer, fax machine, and the like. Operates standard laboratory instruments and equipment.

    TYPICAL DUTIES :

    • Assists in the development of new methods and procedure.

    • Trains other technologists on new laboratory methods and instruments.

    • Assists in the maintenance and troubleshooting of the laboratory methods and instrumentation.

    • Coordinates and documents quality assurance procedures for the lab.

    • Performs the duties of a Clinical Technologist IV.

    • Performs any other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

    • Must be NYS licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist

    • MS in Clinical Chemistry, Medical Technology or equivalent and at least 4 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience.

    • BS in Medical Technology and at least 6 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience.

    • BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology and at least 7 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience.

    • AAS with a total of 90 credit hours (per NYS distribution requirements) and at least 7 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience.

    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Pay Range

    Pay Range: $ 34.50 - $ 44.85 Hourly

    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
