    Job Summary:

    Key Responsibilities

    • Represent both the Department of Anesthesiology and Children's Hospital Colorado with the highest level of professionalism and citizenship.

    • Act as a liaison and representative of both the Department of Anesthesia and Children's Hospital Colorado with patients, nursing staff, surgical staff, and medical staff.

    • Design and maintain optimal staffing models at all clinical locations.

    • Co-Chair Perioperative Surgical Operations Team with the Associate Surgeon-in-Chief.

    • Utilize and manage provider scheduling software (Qgenda) functionality to ensure fair and equitable call, clinical and academic time assignments for all providers within the Division.

    • Collaborate with faculty within and across Departments and with the hospital to develop annual and long-term plans for improving health care quality, access, safety process improvement, and value.

    • Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of care including quality, outcomes, patient safety, utilization, access, cost, efficiency, and patient, staff, and provider experience.

    • Participate in Division Financial Revenue Cycle Reviews to gain a working knowledge and find potential improvements in the Revenue Cycle.

    • Evaluate, authorize, and implement purchase of supplies and equipment needed for high quality patient care.

    • Ensure systems are in place to provide 24/7 Level 1 trauma response in additions to emergency clinical coverage requested of the anesthesia service (e.g. Trauma, code blue response, airway assistance, and clinical consult requests).

    • Facilitate working relationships among all levels of staff to meet patient care requirements.

    • Provide overall clinical supervision, including work assignments and evaluation in accordance with CHCO, University, and Department policy and procedure.

    • Act as a Primary Reviewer of Prism Evaluations.

    • Model appropriate judgment in managing operational situations and communicate concerns to department leadership using established chain of command.

    • Model effective leadership and serve as a resource to staff for problem solving.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Maintain effective working relationships and consistent communication with Departmental leadership.

    • Maintain Operational staffing database for analysis of ongoing staffing needs.

    • Create forecasting models for optimal staffing for future clinical locations.

    • Oversee the creation of the clinical schedule collaborating with APP leadership, education leadership, and administrative support managers relevant to these areas.

    • Manage weekend and holiday staffing schedules in collaboration with perioperative nursing to ensure balanced staffing allocations.

    • Develop annual strategic goals for Clinical Operations.

    The starting salary range () for this position has been established as Assistant Professor: $320,000-$345,000 Associate Professor: $375,000 Professor: $405,000 Call pay and applicable bonuses range from $50,000 to $100,000 per year The Clinical Operations Director role carries an administrative stipend of $20,000 and 0.20FTE of protected time in order to serve in their capacity.
