  • Description:

    This position is responsible for the safe operation of industrial machinery in support of power plant operations. This position supports the proper operation and maintenance of a commercial multi-unit power generation facility that operates on a 24/7 rotating shift. Responds to alarms by taking appropriate corrective actions and executes plant procedures as required. Performs planned and corrective maintenance as directed. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to operating, maintaining and troubleshooting systems required for the safe operation of industrial equipment associated with Combined Cycle and Coal Fired power plants.

    Job Duties:

    • Operate controls and equipment to regulate Heat Recovery Steam Generators, Combustion Turbines, Boilers and Steam Turbines to maintain safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient combustion conditions.

    • Perform emergency operations to maintain electric service and safeguard plant equipment.

    • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance of the electrical and/or mechanical equipment, structures and building of power station operation; makes regular inspections and tests of facilities to determine the overall condition of the power plant.

    • Report upset conditions or other anomalies in plant status to Operations Department and/or Maintenance Department Staff and Managers.

    • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly testing as required to maintain compliance with governing agencies.

    • Make entries in the Operating Log as necessary.

    • Perform emergency operations to maintain electric service and safeguard plant equipment.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications:

    • Valid Drivers License

    • Highly motivated with willingness to work swing shifts and extended hours when necessary, and be available for emergency call-outs as necessary.

    • Effective knowledge of industrial machinery operations, specifically heavy equipment

    • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Reliability and commitment to the team are critical.

    • Knowledge of the principles of combustion; of troubleshooting and repair procedures; of safety equipment involved in handling potentially hazardous chemicals; of principles and techniques of effective supervision; and of various state and federal laws, rules, regulations and industry practices.

    • Familiarity with lockout tag-out procedures.

    • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from the floor level, and push/pull heavy objects while standing, crouching, and in bent posture.
