    Position Purpose:

    The Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer provides guidance and support to PSM-covered facilities involving solvent recovery, fuel blending, and incineration processes. The position will focus on assessing risk, implementing improvements/standards, and ensuring operational processes, policies, and procedures meet the OSHA PSM compliance criteria.

    This is a remote position that requires travel to PSM-covered facilities across the U.S.

    Primary Duties/responsibilities:

    • Provide support at PSM-covered facilities by leading or scribing Process Hazard Assessments including documentation and reporting requirements.

    • Work with local site personnel to progress PHA recommendations through to completion status - including onsite technical support, sharing of best practices and assistance in development of procedures and technical documents.

    • Participate in PSM and RMP Compliance Audits of covered facilities and assist in the assessment of common opportunities across the business unit with a focus on developing and implementing action plans to address identified opportunities.

    • Assist the ESS PSM team to 1) develop standardized PSM training for all PSM-covered sites and 2) develop an ESS PSM centralized intranet page with direct responsibilities for the upkeep and content of the site - including training material, Policies and Procedures, and compliance calendars.

    • Assist PSM-covered facilities in assessing progress against technical VNA standard deployment. Create a consistent comprehensive overview of focus areas and assist with the documentation and implementation of action plans across the VNA zone

    • Support sites' PSM team by serving as a technical resource in areas such as new project hazard identification, root cause analysis, incident investigations, mechanical integrity, new stream PSM applicability assessments, etc.

    • Ability to travel domestically 25%

    Qualifications

    Education / Experience / Background:

    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Environmental Science or related technical discipline required

    • Process Safety Management experience required (e.g. Process Hazard Assessments)

    • Minimum of 3 years hazardous waste or refinery experience preferred

    Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

    • Able to read P&ID and other technical documents

    • Understanding of OSHA regulations

    • Strong communication skills - written and oral
