Project Accounting Analyst

Description

We are currently seeking a skilled Project Accounting Analyst to join a prestigious government contracting company in Columbia, MD. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting project accounting functions, with a focus on tracking revenue recognition using appropriate EAC estimating methodologies. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers to track project progress and expenses

• Analyze project costs and revenues to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements

• Implement and maintain percentage completion or earned value management systems

• Prepare and review financial reports and forecasts related to project performance

• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities for individual projects and the overall portfolio

• Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement

• Participate in project reviews and provide recommendations to optimize financial performance

• Stay current on government contracting regulations and industry best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 3+ years of experience in project accounting or financial analysis, preferably in a government contracting environment

• Strong understanding of percentage completion or earned value management principles

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Deltek Costpoint)

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy

• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
