    POSITION DESCRIPTION:

    Under direct supervision, individual provides test services to support the operation and maintenance of substation electrical equipment. Responsible for commissioning of new equipment for automation and reliability of the distribution and transmission systems.

    • Performs power factor and breaker timing tests.
    • Analyzes and interprets test results and presents findings for review.
    • Performs basic relay testing and technical calculations for test applications.
    • Conducts bucket truck boom insulation integrity testing.
    • Locates sources of radio and television interference.

    The Test Assistant provides the experience and training for advancement within the department.

    The salary range for this position starts at $39.97 and progresses in accordance with the union contract, International Brotherhood Of Electrical Workers AFL-CIO. A comprehensive overview of benefits can be found on our career site.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    A bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology OR associate degree in electrical engineering or electrical technology. May consider formal education equivalent to an associate degree in math, science, or engineering. Also desirable: Strong knowledge of and experience with transmission protection devices such as carrier communication equipment, electro-mechanical and microprocessor relays, electrical protection principles and theories, electronic and computer-controlled systems and devices, computer networking techniques and methods, National Electrical and National Electrical Safety Codes, relay, and control operational and safety procedures, designing testing system equipment.

    Strong organizational skills, ability to utilize interpersonal skills to communicate with coworkers, supervisor, customers are strongly preferred.

    • Individual must hold a valid driver's license and possess and maintain a clean driving record.
    • Individual will, from time to time, must respond to call outs and storm assignments.

    Applicants must successfully pass the TECH test to be considered for this position.
