  • Summary:

    The Sensors and Systems Research (SSR) group at Meta Reality Labs Research (formerly Facebook Reality Labs Research) is currently searching for a full-time AI Research Scientist to pioneer, develop, and prototype innovative algorithms for intelligent sensing systems. We encourage candidates with a proven track record in advancing state-of-the-art efficient computer vision (CV) and machine learning (ML) algorithms, as well as those skilled in software/hardware co-design for distributed ML, multi-modal learning, self-supervised learning, and privacy-preserving ML applications to apply. This role presents a unique opportunity to drive innovation at the forefront of the AR/VR technology revolution while collaborating with a diverse group of cross-disciplinary experts to create next-generation, human-oriented sensing and computing solutions.

    2. Develop computer vision and machine learning solutions for intelligent sensing applications.

    3. Develop novel ML/CV solutions for distributed ML, efficient inference and learning, multi-modal learning, self-supervised learning and/or privacy perseverance.

    4. Plan, execute cutting-edge research and prototype with AR / VR systems.

    5. Foster collaboration with a diverse team including optical, silicon technology, sensor, system architecture, security, and ML domain experts.

    6. Actively engage, collaborate, and influence other research pillars and application teams at Reality Labs.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

    2. Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in the field of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

    3. Proficiency in Python programming and hands-on experience with frameworks such as PyTorch.

    4. Exposure to deploying algorithms into energy-efficient sensing and computing systems.

    5. Demonstrated experience in developing machine learning models at scale, from inception to generating business impact.

    6. Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Preferred Qualifications

    1. Experience in transitioning machine learning-based applications from research to production, particularly in the realm of on-device machine learning.

    2. Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as publications at leading workshops, journals or conferences such as NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICCV, ACL, ISCA, ISSCC, or similar.

    3. Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.

    4. Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.

    5. Demonstrated research and software engineering experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub).

    Public Compensation:

    $117,000/year to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
