    Summary

    The primary purpose of the PBS Supervisor position is to provide supervision and support of the daily operations of Revenue Billing in Patient Business Services. The PBS Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the processing and billing of institutional claims.

    Key Functions

    1. Supervise and coordinate hospital commercial and governmental billing functions associated with inpatient and outpatient hospital billing.

    2. Supervise and coordinate hospital governmental follow up activities.

    3. Responsible for overseeing that governmental letter of agreements are billed appropriately and monitored for correct reimbursement.

    4. Oversee daily processes associated with patient accounting system and the electronic billing software.

    5. Responsible for monitoring billing staff productivity to assure departmental, unit and individual goals are met consistently.

    6. Ensure quality standards are maintained and that QA is monitored to ensure compliance with standard AR practices and billing regulations.

    7. Ensure that proper policies and procedures are followed.

    8. Provide training and counseling as required.

    9. Prepare and provide management reports to Manager and Director, Revenue Billing to track key financial indicators. Examples of reporting would include discharged not final billed, unbilled hospital accounts, op exception report, billing rejections, billing backlogs and/or other data related to quality and/or key financial indicators.

    10. Responsible for working with the Manager, Revenue Billing to ensure all electronic billing edits are updated and revised as needed.

    11. Must maintain current knowledge related to commercial & governmental billing regulations.

    12. Responsible for articulating third party billing requirements and updates to assigned staff.

    13. Other duties as assigned.

    Required Education:

    Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field.

    Preferred Education:

    Bachelor's degree.

    Required Experience:

    Six years of accounting or business office experience to include two years of supervisory experience. Two years of hospital or physician business experience with preferred degree. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.

    Preferred Experience/Skills:

    Medicare collections and billing experience, revenue cycle management, recent supervisor/manager experience, Epic, reporting, presentation skills, personable personality is needed.

    Other Requirements:

    Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
