    Currently, we are looking for a Robotics Engineer I to join the ArcBest Technologies team. The Robotics Engineer I creates innovative solutions to business problems by using innovation modeling, mathematical modeling, engineering principals, Automation/Robotics, Lean Six Sigma, computer programming, business knowledge, or other advanced analytical skills. This position acquires team resources and coordinates team efforts in order to deliver results on projects/processes that are part of the strategic plan for ArcBest and its subsidiaries. The Robotics Engineer I also provides clear and concise project definition, scope, action plans, and communication as well as develops solutions designed to meet project goals while ensuring quality throughout processes

    Your contribution may include

    • Design, test, and build robots that are productive and safe to operate as well as economical to purchase and maintain.

    • Work with high-performance hydraulics, fluid and electro-mechanical actuators and sensors.

    • Develop software and processes that dictate robotic systems functionality.

    • Create and utilize C, C++, or Python programming for real-time control and sensor processing.

    • Develop and document control system requirements and allocate/decompose them to components/controllers as well as develop controls systems design guidelines, best practices, and other processes, tools, and templates.

    • Implement high-bandwidth feedback control in hardware.

    • Implement Agile development and Continuous Integration (CI) concepts in software development and maintenance.

    • Support existing software by learning and documenting Path Planning algorithms.

    • Use cutting-edge concepts like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to boost performance of robotic systems.

    • Support ArcBest and its subsidiaries on technical and strategic initiatives.

    • Serve as technical support for advanced automation systems.

    • Perform research into innovative design, operation, and performance of the systems and/or processes.

    • Clearly define and manage project success metrics on an on-going basis even after the completion of projects.

    • Meet and communicate with Senior Leadership and external customers to provide updates, seek direction, give presentations, communicate success barriers, and showcase project results.

    • Work in a team setting to accomplish department goals.

    • Other duties and projects, as assigned.

    As a Robotics Engineer I, you will be a member of the ArcBest Technologies Technology Research and Development team in Fort Smith, AR. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.

    Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Master's degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience preferred.

    Experience: Prior experience in computer vision, artificial intelligence, or related field. Systems analysis and design skills, required.

    Computer Skills: Strong programming skills, preferred. Strong systems analysis and design skills.

    Other Requirements: Strong knowledge of machine learning, computer vision, and computer perception systems.
