    The Jacobs-led team will serve as MARTA's CPMO Supplemental Services Consultant and manage the construction aspects. A joint venture between Jacobs and H. J. Russell & Company was selected to support the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) as it embarks on its expansion program. This position will be hired through the Joint Venture Subconsultant Program versus Jacobs. Please note that sponsorship is not available for this position.

    Summary of position

    The Safety Engineer will apply system safety principles to all aspects of the Authority's operations in developing, implementing, and managing the Authority's System Safety and Hazard Management Program by U.S. Federal Transit Administration and Georgia Department of Transportation regulations, standards and guidance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Identifies, investigates, and analyzes causes of hazardous conditions and safety hazards and develops or approves corrective action plans.

    • Has responsibility for developing and implementing Authority-wide system safety policies, plans, and procedures.

    • Develop safety programs to ensure employee awareness of the company's safe working conditions and practices.

    • Performs work associated with MARTA's safety and security certification, including establishing safety and security design criteria and verifying design and specification conformance. Implements the hazard management program through hazard identification, risk assessment, hazard mitigation, and hazard tracking/ reporting.

    • Provide detailed reports concerning system safety engineering requirements, including hazard identification, to MARTA management staff and for regulating agency review.

    • Will lead most assigned projects and assist lower-level engineers and technicians. Works closely with other MARTA engineers to increase safety, quality, and efficiency.

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline is required

    • Must have certification in transit safety and Security. Must complete MARTA's Wayside Access training. Must have a valid Georgia driver's license.

    Ideally, you'll also have:

    • Eight years of progressively responsible experience in system safety and/or conducting safety-related dependability studies are required.

    • The candidate must have a detailed understanding of the principles of system safety engineering and be able to perform complex engineering and statistical analysis.
