    About the role

    The primary function of the Sanitation Manager is to implement & maintain programs related to sanitation, pest control and production.

    The Sanitation Manager demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behavior, which may lead to accidents.

    Continually endorse the Quality & Food Safety Policies, assure conformance to all requirements of the Quality & Food Safety Management Systems, & take action to properly report failures of these systems to site management.

    Key responsibilities

    Ensure the facility is compliant with customer and governmental requirements for cleanliness while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

    Manage relationships with vendors including chemical suppliers, pest control companies, and others as needed.

    Lead sanitation employees to clean facility using approved chemical solutions.

    Ensure all employees are following safety procedures including PPE.

    Develop, maintain, and implement SSOPs, using both wet cleaning and dry-cleaning methods and tools.

    Maintain chemical inventory.

    Manage pest control program.

    Conduct internal audits as necessary.

    Participate and lead cross-functional teams with production & quality.

    Manage and adhere to sanitation budget.

    Responsible to maintaining proper documentation that meets all governmental and customer requirements.

    Recommend, develop, and implement new or improved sanitation programs or tools to meet plant and company goals for safety, sustainability, and sanitation excellence.

    Inspect plants and warehouses to ensure compliance with internal sanitation and safety procedures and programs and to comply with state and federal laws.

    Maintain master cleaning schedule for plant meeting GMP and Kerry guidelines.

    Maintain and write detailed clean up procedures and SSOPs for all plant equipment.

    Responsible for sanitation of plant, warehouse, and plant ground.

    Involved in Customer Audits and follow-up on corrective actions.

    All other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and skills

    Bachelor's degree in science, biology, food science, chemistry or equivalent.

    Minimum of 5-10 years in a sanitation or QA leadership position.

    Experience with chemical hygiene safety preferred.

    Demonstrated progressive leadership experience.

    Sanitation or Quality related experience in a fermentation dry blending operation is preferred.

    Knowledge and experience with pest control.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    A. The physical demands of this position include the ability to walk and stand on a regular basis. Will be expected to scrub, sweep, and scour in a repetitive motion for long periods of time. Must climb stairs and ladders. The ability to reach, bend/stoop, crouch, squat, push/pull and manipulate is frequently required. Must be able lift full pails of washing solution, jugs of chemicals, equipment, or move bags of product that could weigh 50 pounds and occasionally more. Vision and the ability to read and write are required to perform this job. Talking and hearing are not essential functions of this position.

    B. The job is mostly performed inside. There is exposure to humidity, dust, fumes, noise, and chemical agents. Hearing protection is required. On occasion there is close proximity to moving objects and sharp tools and limited room for movement when staging product. The floor surface is linoleum, metal grates, or concrete frequently wet in some areas. The temperature is variable based on the season and the task being performed.

    C. Must be able to work in cold and hot environments and able to work outside of the building as needed (i.e. snow removal, trash pickup around the building).

    Compensation Data

    The typical hiring range for this role is $89,175 to $134,984 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
