    Job Title: Scientist II

    Location : 4300 Hacienda Drive Pleasanton CA 94588

    Contract Length: 1 year

    Pay Rate: $31-$43

    The Scientist II will need 5 years of recent hands-on bench work. This contractor will be a member of the Research and Early Development Team in Pleasanton to support clinical sample processing which include DNA extraction, library preparation, and Next Generation Sequencing. We are looking for an experienced candidate who understands both the technical and professional components of lab work.

    Our client is looking for the below -

    Requirements:

    -Bachelor's degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field

    -Strong laboratory proficiency and experience with processing multiple samples with high degree of accuracy in a high through-put environment is preferred

    -Experience with high throughput pipetting on daily basis with single and multichannel pipettes with accuracy

    -Accurate record keeping a must

    -Flexibility in working hours, especially during the training period a must

    -Multichannel pipetting proficiency a must.

    Skills

    -Ability to work under pressure with highly precious samples

    -Strong laboratory proficiency and experience with processing multiple samples with high degree of accuracy in a high through-put environment is preferred

    -Experience with high throughput pipetting on daily basis with single and multichannel pipettes with accuracy

    -Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of programs, especially Word, Excel, Powerpoint is preferred

    -Experience with NGS based workflows including target enrichment, and library preparation is preferred

    -Experience with sequencing on NGS platforms is preferred.

    -Accurate record keeping a must

    -Flexibility in working hours, especially during the training period a must

    -Multichannel pipetting proficiency a must.

    Education

    -Bachelor's degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field

    To fulfill the below -

    KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    -Routinely execute standard molecular biology techniques, from DNA extraction to target enrichment and next generation sequencing library preparation

    -Follow protocols precisely, and with extreme care under design control regulations and GMP laboratory conditions

    -Be comfortable with and able to adapt to regular protocol changes as protocols are being developed and improved

    -Regularly work with human biological samples including blood, plasma, tissue for nucleic acid extraction

    -Routinely process multiple samples with accuracy and consistency

    -Work under manager supervision to plan and conduct hands-on development and optimization experiments as needed

    -Assume responsibility for timely completion of projects

    -Adapt to changing priorities

    -Accurately and consistently record sample tracking information, experimental methods, materials and results in electronic laboratory notebooks and/or worksheets.

    -Occasionally present findings and/or comprehensive project status reviews at internal seminars and department meetings.

    -Apply technical writing skills to produce reports and documents.
