Job Description

An employer in the San Diego, CA area is looking for a Scientist III to join the High Throughput Screening group. This candidate will be responsible focusing on the discovery pipeline for enzyme and protein screening/generation for future products. The primary skillset we are looking for will have a background in upstream molecular biology and be comfortable with the execution of assays, gene construction (expression),

Primary responsibilities will include primary expression cloning - they will order in and analyze it. The candidate will ideally have a PhD in Molecular Biology focusing in Microbial Strains and Expression. They will be responsible for doing workflows (Automation heavy) and liquid/plate handling. The employee will order constructs, hosts, and express/provide analytics. They will also have some focus on Bio Chem Assays, High throughput, liquid handling, and will work on multiple projects at the same time focusing on the execution piece. This role will be 60% Lab/bench and 40% Design of Experiments (DOE) and planning requests/analyze results. They will analyze data in JMP and make decisions/integrate results.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree 3-8 years of relevant industry experience (PhD Preferred)

• Experience leading and executing Cloning and Expression workflow for early stage Enzyme and Protein Candidates

• Strong experience in Molecular Biology techniques: protein expression in microbial systems

• Experience with plate-based screening, liquid handling, and automation

• Experience with Gene Cloning and Strain Handling

• Experience in Early Phase Discovery (R&D)

• Experience in digital and Automating workflows (they use Bravo or Hamilton Liquid Handlers)

• Colony picking experience and Automation of the process - PhD in a related field - Molecular Biology (Microbial Strains + Expression)

• Strong statistical understanding (they use JMP) null
