    This position has the possibility to work remotely up to 100% of the time. The position will require occasional travel to the Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations. This position may be performed anywhere in the U.S. except California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina. Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors. Should the positions shift to in-office work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time should the position meet the established eligibility for these benefits.

    Description

    The Financial Reporting team is responsible for the external reporting function of FCX and its subsidiaries, including preparing FCX's Form 10-Q/Ks and other SEC filings. The Financial Reporting team's other responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the preparation of internal reports/presentations, identifying, analyzing and documenting accounting issues, internal reports/presentations, and other special projects. The Financial Reporting team regularly works directly and in cooperation with other departments within the FCX organization, including Corporate Accounting & Consolidations, Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Environmental, as well as with site personnel, and internal/external auditors. For that reason, a key characteristic of the Financial Reporting team is its ability to work successfully and effectively with teams of diverse individuals.

    • Quarterly/Annual Reporting: Assist in drafting footnotes, MD&A or other assigned sections of the company's Form 10-Q/K or other SEC filings, and the preparation of the company's quarterly earnings release. Assist with the company's SEC filings in Workiva, including eXtensible Business Reporting Language (iXBRL) tagging.

    • Working with Auditors: Responsible for the preparation of a comprehensive set of workpapers supporting the company's external and internal reports, and working directly with the company's external auditors on the audit of information included within these reports.

    • Monthly Close: Participate in the monthly accounting close, which may include the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance and account analysis for complex accounting areas such as derivatives, pension, environmental obligations, litigation, and stock-based compensation.

    • Review and Analysis: Gather and analyze data to assist in the preparation of company's external filings as well as for internal management reports. Participate in the review of financial reports, including local statutory reports in foreign jurisdictions, for compliance with accounting and reporting standards.

    • Technical Accounting Guidance: Understanding of US GAAP, IFRS and SEC Regulations (or issues that could impact current reporting requirements and/or disclosures, as well as future results of the company). Assist in the research of such accounting guidance/issues and the preparation of supporting documentation/memos.

    • Special Projects: Provide direct assistance to the Financial Reporting team in the completion of special projects as requested.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements

    • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area AND three (3) years of accounting experience, OR

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area AND five (5) years of accounting experience, OR

    • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area AND seven (7) years professional experience in accounting, OR

    • High School diploma or GED AND nine (9) years professional experience in accounting; including two (2) years in prolong intellectual instruction (certifications, instructed training, or on the job training, etc.) in Accounting or Finance.

    • CPA is preferred, but not required

    Criteria/Conditions:

    • Location requires mobility in an office environment. Occasionally, work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting.

    • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.

    • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds.

    • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.

    • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.

    Compensation:

    The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $79,000-$109,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
