Position Summary
In this newly created position, the Senior Director, Brand Design will lead strategic brand and design programs for the enterprise, the sub-brands, and services of Walmart.
This role will also help position, brand, and develop design systems for owned and private label brands, both large and small, across all categories and customer segments (home, beauty, apparel, food, consumables, kids, electronics and more).
This leader will be responsible for collaborating with internal partners to bring business strategies to life, with a lens on creative excellence, diverse talent, craft, creativity, innovation, and collaboration.
This leader will play a key role in attracting and retaining top talent, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment, and inspiring their team to reach their full potential.
This position is based in our new creative center of excellence located in Los Angeles.
Key Priorities:
Relationship building and stakeholder management - Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to understand their needs and goals and ensure that our creative work aligns with and supports their objectives. Foster productive working relationships with creative agencies and vendors as needed.
Creative direction and development - Lead the design direction and development of private label brands. Inclusive of branding and identity development, overall creative direction and applicable maintenance, updates, and extensions. Own creative direction and brand design systems for in-store marketing, including for category reinventions and new formats. Work from creative briefs to translate merchandising and marketing strategies into creative execution. Assure that expressions of our brand are applied consistently and with excellence across all consumer touchpoints.
Team leadership - Direct multiple projects, stakeholders, and budgets within deadlines. Promote the growth and career development of individual team members. Lead cross-functional teams and external agency partners to ensure successful project execution. Establish and maintain clarity and a consistent workflow by conducting regular reviews and meetings with team members.
Communication and Influence - Present to senior leadership, influencing business and creative decisions and direction. Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices and bring new and innovative ideas to the table to drive the business forward.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, or related field
Experience leading and stewarding branding and design programs for consumer facing brands
Experience managing leaders of people
Experience recruiting, retaining and growing diverse talent
Excellent creative management skills with the ability to effortlessly meet deadlines on multiple projects with varying timelines
Experience working in a fast paced, high volume, deadline-oriented environment
Experience collaborating with cross discipline marketing leaders
Experience pitching ideas that articulate a strategic design approach
Self-starter: takes initiative and shows continuous growth
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A positive team player with an optimistic, enthusiastic attitude who's able to collaborate with and influence peers to overcome obstacles
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 12 years of design and/or creative leadership
Experience operating in a complex, matrixed organization
Experience building complex design systems across a multiple range of touchpoints
Expertise leading the creative production and execution of packaging programs

The annual salary range for this position is $156,000.00-$312,000.00

Minimum Qualifications...

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Textiles, Fashion, Graphic Design, or related field and 7 years' experience in textile design, print design, graphic design, or related field OR 9 years' experience in textile design, print design, graphic design, or related field. 2 years' supervisory experience. 2 years' experience working with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or related graphic design software.
