    Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Quality Assurance Division,Manager of Structural Integrityand under the direct supervision of the Assistant ManagerofStructural Integrity, theselected candidate will serve as a Task Leader on multiple projects. As a Task Leader, thesuccessful candidate will respond to and evaluate immediate structural deficiencies at all Port Authority facilities; audit consultants performing facility condition surveys and biennial inspection of bridges; perform technical reviews of condition survey reports and biennial bridgeand tunnelinspection reports;reviewcondition surveyproposals, prepare condition survey cost estimates,maintain and update the database for condition survey reports, immediate actions and priority ~~~ occasion, the selected candidate may need to attendnighttime or weekend-scheduled inspectionsasneeded.

    Qualifications

    • Abachelorsdegree in Structuralor Civil Engineeringfrom an accredited college or university.

    • Fiveor moreyears of specific condition inspectionand designexperienceof various types of structures.

    • Ability to assess inspection findings, effectively reach a sound conclusion and recommend repairs.

    • Experience in bridge and/or building repair design.

    • Ability to climb various types of structures.

    • Familiarity with New YorkState,New Jersey stateand FHWArequirements for biennial inspection of bridgesand tunnelsand familiarity with various other codes including AASHTO specifications.

    • Possess valid driverslicense.

    • Ability to be on call to respond to emergency structural situations.

    • Proficiency and effectiveness in written and oral communication skills are essential.

    Desired

    • Professional Engineering license in NY and/or NJ State

    • Completion of Bridge Inspection Training Courses: NHI 130055 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges), NHI 130053 Bridge Inspection Refresher

    • Completion of Tunnel Inspection Training Course: NHI Course No. 130110 (Tunnel Safety Inspection )

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.

    • Self-motivated and experienced in working in a team environment.

    • Proficient in the use of various computer programs such as Microsoft Office, AUTOCAD, etc.
