    Job Description:

    This position within Corporate Risk Management is responsible for managing a team and having responsibility over oversight of consumer credit strategy and policy. Primarily, the incumbent is responsible for providing an independent view on the key consumer credit risks of the firm's consumer lending practices. Responsibilities will include evaluating and monitoring consumer credit risk appetite, tolerance, and thresholds. Also defines the process for monitoring the performance of the consumer credit portfolio and performs reviews of credit risk strategies, while evaluating trade-offs among key business metrics, such as credit losses, receivables, and profit. This will necessitate initiating and conducting ad-hoc or deep dive analytical projects/studies to identify incremental credit and loss mitigation opportunities across the credit life cycle i.e. acquisitions, account management and collections around large datasets, identifying, designing, and implementing complex business analyses in support of business strategy. Develops and coaches' teams to be able to identify, manage, and escalate risk, and effectively manage risk within the teams you oversee.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops, manages, and maintains reporting and oversight of consumer credit risk appetite, tolerance, and thresholds. This includes the awareness of consumer credit strategies and the implications of changes in strategy to the profitability of the enterprise.

    • Evaluates credit loss assumptions for benign and stress case scenarios used for strategy development.

    • Gathers and analyzes macro-economic data, competitive benchmarking data and determines impacts to ongoing portfolio performance and recommend credit strategy changes as appropriate.

    • Uses statistical techniques such as decision trees, regression and other advanced predictive modeling, A/B testing to optimize credit risk.

    • Develops, implements, and maintains processes for targeted review of credit strategies across all consumer lending products, including performing a risk assessment on the overall portfolio. Collaborates with credit strategy teams to mitigate any identified credit risk concerns. Reports finding through the appropriate, established governance processes.

    • Develops and maintains credit-risk oversight processes, policies, and procedures in accordance with the overall Corporate Risk Management framework and system.

    • Interacts with business partners, senior management, governance committees, and regulators to present (both orally and written) analytic findings and portfolio-risk ranking processes in a clear, complete, and concise manner.

    • Implements and maintains independent credit risk portfolio reporting across all consumer lending products.

    • Participates in department, CRM, and enterprise-management processes and practices to attract and develop talent. Provides constructive feedback, coaching, training, etc., to team members on a routine basis in order to effectively manage and mentor team members.

    Minimum Qualifications

    At a minimum, here's what we need from you:

    • Master's Degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Finance, or related quantitative field.

    • 8+ years of experience in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, quantitative field, equivalent internship, or research experience.

    • In lieu of a degree, 15+ years of experience in credit card, or related financial services industry.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Finance, or related quantitative field

    • 10+ years of experience in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, quantitative field, equivalent internship, or research experience.

    • Knowledge and use of statistical packages such as SQL, SAS, Python or other tools to mine, extract complex consumer and transaction level data on big data and/or cloud computing platforms.

    Compensation:

    The base pay for this position generally ranges between $103,000.00 to $174,200.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
