    Position Summary

    This position is located in Akron, OH and full relocation assistance is being offered. We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our collaborative team. The Senior Process Engineer will leverage their expertise towards the safe design, construction, and operation of a pilot-scale process for conversion of ethanol to butadiene, while providing innovative solutions towards the successful end-to-end development of strategic polymers primarily used in tire applications. Experience with large cap ex project management in a refinery environment along with strong experience working with various Polymers would be a plus!

    Responsibilities

    This Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for participating in feasibility studies, collaborating with external engineering firms to select and design equipment for unit operations, interfacing with contractors to safely install the equipment, developing operating procedures, following implementation, start-up, and operation of the equipment on a continuous basis.

    The Senior Process Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines while regularly communicating project status updates, both written and presented. Additional responsibilities include the development and review of process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and taking part in Process Hazard Analysis (LOPA evaluation) while supporting necessary management of change requirements.

    Preferred Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will

    • Promote a safety minded work culture

    • Possess a strong background in chemical engineering and process optimization with experience in separation operations including liquid-liquid separation and azeotropic distillation, with a preferred background in polymerization and butadiene purification

    • Have a proven track record of delivering results and innovative solutions in a team environment

    • Exhibit organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and statistical analysis tools such as Minitab, Microsoft Excel, etc.

    • Have experience with construction coordination, capital projects (>$500k), and unit start-up

    • Demonstrate strong oral/written communication skills to colleagues and upper management with varying technical backgrounds

    • Have a working knowledge of standard design tools, modeling, and automation applications (e.g. ASPEN, Chemcad, Siemens PCS7, Pro 2)

    • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field required.

    • Experience as a Project Manager in large scale capital projects involving Polymers in a refining environment is desired.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience
