Senior Project Engineer

Key Job Elements:
Oversee development of Exhaust Aftertreatment systems for use on medium Speed Diesel engines;
Participate in the design and manufacture of Aftertreatment systems;
Coordinate software development for aftertreatment systems, including interface to other engine control and vehicle control systems;
After-treatment systems are to be used on 2-stroke and 4-stroke Diesel engines, in locomotive, marine, and power generation applications;
Manage offshore and local Design, FEA, CFD and Test Resources;
Develop new suppliers for After-Treatment System components as needed;
Develop Performance and Reliability related Test Procedures for evaluation catalysts.
Qualifications and Experience:
Working experience with the chemistry of aftertreatment technologies;
Working knowledge of FEA and CFD analysis;
10 years of relevant work experience in:
o Emissions control strategies, including exhaust after-treatment systems;
o 2-stroke and 4-stroke Diesel engines;
o CAN communication strategies;
Customer interface/Field service experience;
Experience with Cost reduction strategies;
Experience with Reliability improvement strategies.
Prior Caterpillar experience and knowledge of locomotive applications;
Prior experience of Marine and power generation engine applications;
Process improvement skills;
Excellent communication skills - interaction with outside governmental organizations is required;
High attention to detail;
Organization and problem-solving skills.
Location of this position is in LaGrange IL;
This position may requires 10-15% travel.
Strength - Position typically involves work in an office environment with occasional visits to an industrial environment. Frequent/constant sitting. Occasional standing and walking. Occasional light-level lifting or carrying (up to 10 pounds);
Motion - Position regularly requires standard motions associated with working in an office environment;
Vision/Hearing Requirements - Frequent verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;
Work Environment - Position is typically located in an office environment with occasional visits to an industrial environment which may include a non-temperature-controlled environment, as well as exposure to noise (85+ decibels), occasional exposure to temperature changes, heavy machinery and other hazardous working conditions requiring the use of PPE;
Emotional Demands - Very high level of responsibility. Must be able to coordinate diverse aspects of a project. Requires significant interpersonal skills while sustaining very high standards. Domestic and international travel as required;
Safety - Position may occasionally require the use of Personal Protective Equipment during visits to industrial areas.
