  • Job Description

    The Supervisor of Payroll, under the direction of management, oversees the timely and accurate preparation, processing and reconciliation of payroll, taxes and benefits as well as the relevant payments, deductions, and reporting in order to ensure accuracy, timeliness and compliance with governing regulations such as minimum wage and overtime regulations, etc. Maintains payroll work calendar, ensuring the timely payment and reporting of payroll withholdings and pay. Responsible for completing quarterly and yearly reconciliation and tax reports. Acts as liaison to internal departments to provide guidance, build working relationships, and resolve escalated issues.

    Essential Functions:

    • Oversees the day-to-day operations aiding and guiding payroll team. Monitors team productivity, efficiency and compliance with approved policies and procedures.

    • Reviews and prepares payroll payments requests related to shipboard and shoreside employees related to bonuses, incentives, premium pay, overtime pay, FMLA pay, 401K, RSUs, the distribution of gratuities, etc. for managerial approval.

    • Implements improvement to processes, procedures, and workflow to create efficiencies. Contributes to the development of payroll related policies and procedures.

    • Collaborate with Payroll Management, Legal, Global Tax, HR, RAAS and other individuals to facilitate internal and external payroll inquiries and/or audits

    • Collaboration with management, IT, and systems support staff to develop, test, and implement new and/or updated system processes, improvements, upgrades and releases as assigned.

    • Analyze funding needs and work closely with Manager of Payroll, Fleet Finance team and Treasury to optimize funding process.

    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of upstream and downstream business processes.

    • Function as Subject Matter Expert in projects as assigned. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed.

    • Collaborates with Benefits, payroll management and other individuals to facilitate internal and external Benefit deduction inquiries, reconciliation, and/or audits.

    Qualifications:

    • Associate's Degree required

    • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field preferred

    • 5+ years of experience working with large data sets - preferably in payroll. Leadership experience. Practical experience testing of enterprise size payroll systems required.

    • Experience with Lawson and Kronos application. Experience in payroll tax filing, Pension filing, foreign pension preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Working understanding of the US HR regulations and foreign payrolls and benefits contributions. Accounting journalization experience as well as experience in cost allocation and balance sheet reconciliations. Experience in research and ability to work well with others. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and planning skills. Leadership abilities to lead and inspire a team of highly technical and analytical nature. General knowledge of cruise industry as it relates to payroll and pension issues. Strong understanding of financial data analysis tools and payroll systems such as Lawson, Kronos, Oracle Financials, Hyperion Essbase, Tableau, or OBIEE is preferred. Must have strong command of Microsoft Office programs and advance level of Excel and interactive reporting tools. High level of accuracy and attention to detail / Math/accounting aptitude Highly organized / Self-motivated /Inspiring leadership. Required to work extended and flexible hours on certain days upon request / Will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement

    Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

    Travel: Less than 25% ship and shore-based travel

    Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

    The range for this role's base salary is $60,600 - $75,000. Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
