  • Overview

    Plans, coordinates, and directs medical center supply chain activities involving the evaluation, acquisition, receiving, storage and accounting of medical, surgical and other supplies and equipment used in the care and treatment of patients and staff as established through system governance, processes, and contracts.

    Responsibilities

    • Plans, directs and supervises Supply Chain daily operations at the medical center, including the mentoring of staff to align with the value based behaviors and performance standards.

    • Responsible for the leadership of the localized aspects of integration efforts across the site.

    • Reinforces departmental values and direction based on system goals.

    • Works with system supply chain leadership to establish policies and procedures and provides direction to staff to adopt and implement.

    • Ensures the ongoing planning, assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programs, including interdepartmental services, based on the strategic direction of system Supply Chain and in conjunction with local leadership.

    • Acts as advisor/resource to all departments with regard to supply, equipment and service needs.

    • In conjunction with local executives and in alignment with the system Supply Chain, creates and manages to department budgets and ensure operations with allocated funds. Held accountable to expense budgets in alignment with the strategic plan.

    • Supports the system strategy through the development and implementation of action plans. Identifies, manages, and improves key processes to achieve overall operational performance objectives.

    • Ensures the right equipment and technology infrastructure exists to allow staff to perform their roles as prescribed by the system Supply Chain.

    • Collaborates on strategic opportunities to support and position the supply chain for long-term success.

    • Participates in succession planning and in staff recognition opportunities and events.

    • Responsible for personnel functions including, but not limited to hiring, training, performance appraisals, promotion, transfers, and schedules.

    • Plans and conducts meetings with subordinates to ensure compliance with established policies, practices, and procedures, to implement new policies, practices, and procedures, and to keep employees abreast of current changes and standards.

    • Manages and uses data and information for performance measurement, analysis, and review in support of organizational planning and performance improvement objectives.

    • Supports the organizational capabilities for handling emergencies or disasters, with the aim of staff protection and workplace safety. Ensures that supply chain activities are in compliance with local, State and Federal regulations.

    • Coordinates site purchasing efforts with those of the system to achieve desired levels of value and cost control.

    • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field

    • Five (5) years of pertinent experience in a health care or similar environment with leading and organizing a full range of materials and resource management responsibilities required.

    • APICS, Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification preferred.

    • Demonstrated ability to participate in a group consensus-building process with physicians, management, and staff within an organization.

    • Enterprise resource planning software familiarity and skill required.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

    • Strengths in coordination, collaboration, leadership, organization, and negotiation required.

    • Strong computing skills required.

    • Experience with project management software preferred.

    • The ability to travel frequently on day trips throughout the region required.
