Staff Accountant

Description

Robert Half is looking for a Part Time Staff Accountant for a long-term contract / temporary role. As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This company offers a challenging and multi-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded and the role is based in the Boston, Massachusetts region. There is flexibility for a hybrid schedule and the 20-25 hour work week can be split how you choose, as long as your hours fall between 9am- 5pm Monday- Friday. The opportunity for additional hours can be discussed.

What you get to do every single day

• Maintain monthly payment schedules

• Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

• Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings

• Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

• Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

• Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

• Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision

• Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

• Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

• Participate in various department-wide initiatives

Requirements - Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

• Self-starter and strong ethical standards

• Collections experience

• Cash posting experience highly desired

• NetSuite experience desired

• Deep understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)

• Accounts Receivable (AR) experience preferred

• BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

• ERP system experience

• Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills

• Recent and relevant accounting experience

• Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

• Spreadsheet and database capabilities

• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills

• Great attention to detail

• Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
