    Work Schedule: 8 Hr (8:00:00 AM - 4:30:00 PM)

    Summary:

    The Student Navigator is responsible for ensuring that all Rush University students, inclusive of modalities: onsite, hybrid or distance learning, have a positive concierge experience by connecting them to the appropriate institutional resources and support. The Student Navigator will have comprehensive working knowledge of departments, support services and points of contacts throughout the University/Colleges and RUSH Health System to promote ease of resources access and removal of administrative burdens. Position will routinely participate in professional development trainings and develop in-depth knowledge of the University's student information system(s), portal, etc. The person who holds this position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Deliver high touch customer service experience by connecting students to vital resources to address their inquiries.

    2. Serve as a key liaison to UDEI Office, Academic Affairs, Faculty Affairs, Student Affairs, and the Research Enterprise for the University and Colleges to provide key guidance for students.

    3. Serve as a confidential liaison for faculty and staff who identify students with basic wellness needs, emergency funds, childcare, tutoring, food insecurity, safety issues, and provide the appropriate connection to the resources.

    4. Establish strong relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for students seeking support or opportunities.

    5. Design a student referral process to track effectiveness as well as identify any barriers preventing student success.

    6. Assist in the development of customized help guides as additional resource to assist students during non-office hours.

    7. Participate in student retention/persistence initiatives to expand knowledge of key programs and service offerings.

    8. Participate in student and faculty orientations to provide awareness of a one-stop referral resource on campus.

    9. Work effectively and provide equitable support to diverse student populations, including but not limited to, cultural, ethnic, sexual-orientation, students with disabilities, and social diverse populations.

    10. Create detailed tracking reports and metrics to publish periodic data on current issues and themes.

    11. Maintain confidentiality of all records in accordance with FERPA.

    12. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

    Other information:

    • Bachelor's degree

    • Effective interpersonal skills working with students, faculty, staff, and alumni

    • Experience working in a postsecondary student support setting

    • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

    • Excellent written communication skills

    • Professional customer service skills

    Preferred Job Qualifications:

    • Master's degree

    • Experience working with health science students in higher education

    • Computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, Student Information Systems, and working with online databases

    Physical Demands:

    • May involve light lifting of office supplies and materials

    Competencies:

    • Knowledge of student success practices

    • Effective decision-making and problem-solving

    • Self-directed in acquiring knowledge and applying it to practical situations
