    Summary

    Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opportunity for a Supply Chain Associate in Canton, OH supporting the Ohio Refining Division! Primary responsibilities include material and incidental service procurement. Skills and competencies for this role include business acumen, customer service, adaptability, collaboration, and innovation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Receive and review purchase requisitions for materials and services for completeness and proper level of approval. Evaluates competitive bids and quotations against PO commitments and maintains documentation as appropriate for all purchase.

    • Purchase materials, equipment, and incidental services for assigned areas in best interests of company. Ensures transactions are managed in seamless process from order entry through invoice payment.

    • Identifies and resolves purchase order and invoice discrepancies working in collaboration with AP, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure timely goods receipt and payment.

    • Expedite purchase commitments to ensure on timely delivery and acceptable performance by suppliers, to meet the needs of business partners.

    • Ensures the proper use of tools and systems provided to monitor, verify, and implement Supply Chain Controls, including supplier agreements, bidding documents, rates, scope of work, supplier/contractor qualification and approval and any other documents related to commercial management terms and conditions.

    • Utilize practices such as RFQs, bid analysis, negotiations and partnering to ensure maximum value for expenditures. Seeks new practices and methods to increase value of services.

    • Proficient in commercial analysis techniques and process improvements to support Supply Chain initiatives and maintain value laden supply relationships. Establishes, maintains, and communicates an understanding of the business partner organization.

    • Liaises with other Supply Chain and legal professionals to ensure that contractual terms and conditions are acceptable and serve to minimize risk as needed during the purchasing process.

    • Maintain awareness of current market conditions, new products, supply sources for assigned commodities, new technologies, assigned business units and methods that enhance value of purchasing process.

    • Perform moderately complex price analysis based on few variables and confers with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree required. (Supply Chain Management, Business, or Accounting preferred)

    • 1-4+ years of related experience as a buyer or in a procurement role, focused on P2P management, invoice reconciliation, expediting and general purchasing activities.

    • SAP, Ariba, Microsoft Office products is preferred.

    Grade 8-9. This position is part of a job family with multiple levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Professional Level 1 (P1)- Bachelor's degree in related field.- Entry level related experience as a buyer or in a procurement role, focused in P2P management, invoice reconciliation, expediting and general purchasing activities.Professional Level 2 (P2)- Bachelor's degree in related field.- 1-2 or more years of related experience as a buyer or in a procurement role, focused in P2P management, invoice reconciliation, expediting and general purchasing activities.Professional Level 3 (P3)- Bachelor's degree in related field.- 4 or more years of related experience as a buyer or in a procurement role, focused in P2P management, invoice reconciliation, expediting and general purchasing activities.
