  • Overview

    This position is a key member of the Oncology Service Line of the Dartmouth Cancer Center, reporting directly to the System Vice President of Oncology Services and the Chief Medical Officer of Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. The individual is responsible for driving operational excellence, and leading, developing, and supporting clinical business operations for the cancer center at SVMC, which includes Medical Oncology, Hematology, and Radiation Oncology; works in partnership with leaders throughout DCC and Dartmouth Health to evaluate and improve cross-discipline operations and resources as they relate to Cancer Center Service Line clinical strategy; develops systems that promote well-coordinated comprehensive oncology care; partners with the DCC Research Director to develop and execute systems and processes that allow for opening of clinical trials; develops key relationships both within and external to SVMC to ensure seamless care of oncology patients; drives growth and expansion of the cancer center through management of the referral base and develop a strategy for expansion into additional referral markets.

    Responsibilities

      1. Assumes responsibility for the business information management related to oncology programs.
    • Develops Oncology Service Line specific program information related to cost per unit, financial health, volume, trends, incident rate, etc., in preparation for a capitated reimbursement healthcare environment.

    • Coordinates with NCCC Patient Quality and Safety to develop dashboard metrics to track the success of oncology groups.

    • Facilitates regular communication between DH, NCCC, COG, and Leadership to analyze program trends to for the purpose of informed decision making related to service line strategies.

    • Develops and carries out a full range of financial management activities for the NCCC and DHMC including strategies to improve revenues and decrease costs.

    • Develops reporting mechanisms to understand and track the financial aspects of cancer disease sites across the organization as business links.

    • Provides leadership related to operations improvement, including development of management systems that support a well-functioning clinical department. Works with NCCC management to provide oversight related to clinical information systems, personnel, space and equipment, departmental policies and procedures, and financial management, including the identification and implementation of systems that will support the function of interdisciplinary clinical teams.

    • Directs all administrative and management activities encompassing Cancer Oncology Group centered interdisciplinary care. Facilitates the development of Cancer Oncology Groups, Oncology Advisory Committee, Steering Committee, and Operations Committee. Ensures research support consideration related to Cancer Oncology Group eff orts to integrate scientific endeavors into clinical operations. Responsible for leading the development of three years plans for each of the interdisciplinary programs with attention to developing clinical programs that support research and incorporate supportive care for patients with cancer. Works with NCCC leadership to identify regional practices appropriate for Interdisciplinary Oncology Services. Collaborates in the development of marketing plans across multiple disciplines centered on disease site management.

    • Assumes lead responsibility for special Clinic-wide or Department-specific projects.

    • Oversees budget process for Support Services.

    • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required with 10 years of experience in health care administration in an integrated health system setting or theequivalent required.

    • Master’s degree preferred.

    • The ability to relate to and deal eff ectively with physicians, administrators, support staff and the general public with a high degreeof tact and discretion required.

    • Excellent communication skills required.

    • Strong financial background preferred.
