Systems Engineer II

A Systems Engineer deploys and maintains dedicated and shared compute and storage resources in support of mission-critical applications and data processing. The Engineer routinely devises and implements plans to improve performance, security, and availability of supporting operating systems and hardware resources through monitoring, scheduled maintenance, and problem resolution. This role with have a large focus on managing the security and vulnerabilities of Linux systems.

What You Will Do:

Offering script writing and consultation services for automating batch and real-time production tasks, alongside evaluating and suggesting new technologies to support production needs!

We develop configurations, documentation, and deployment plans for operating systems, middle-tier, and application software, while also handling hardware installation and provisioning. Assists in disaster recovery assessments and crafts automation solutions for infrastructure management.

Additionally, reviews and implements security improvements, identifies process gaps, and provides remediation plans, with the flexibility to operate in an on-call capacity outside regular business hours.

What You Will Have:

• Experience with virtualization, converged infrastructure, and container technologies!

• Proficient in fixing and resolving technical issues promptly and optimally.

• Strong command of scripting languages including PowerShell, Bash, and Korn shell, improving automation and efficiency.

• Skilled in applying automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, and Terraform to streamline deployment and management processes.

• Extensive experience in deploying, configuring, and running critically important applications across Windows, Linux, and Unix environments, both on-premises and in the cloud.

• Deep understanding of IT infrastructure components and software layers, including hardware, operating systems, and application stacks, facilitating comprehensive support and maintenance.

• Be located in EST, CST, MT time zones.

• Minimum of 2-5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree

2+ years hands-on administration of:

• Windows, VMware, Linux, CentOS, RHEL, and other Linux environments, AIX

What will set you apart:

• Experience with IBM Power and Storage hardware

• Experience with VMWare, Nutanix, Docker, Kubernetes

• Experience with zoning and provisioning IBM/Brocade SAN

• Experience in Bash and Korn shell scripting

• Experience with Powershell scripting

• Experience with Rubrik, NetBackup
