How you make a difference
The Float Nurseis aLicensedPracticalorVocationalNurse(LPNorLVN)responsible forprovidingpatient care in a Correctional Setting byassistingin the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They work under the supervision of RN(s) andprovidepatient education and activities within their demonstrated competencies. The Float Nurseis responsible forfollowing the Nursing Practice Act and working collaboratively with other healthcare providers to ensure high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Assistsin patient assessment and planning of individual treatment programs while consulting with RNs and other staff as appropriatein accordance withestablished policies and procedures.
Implements individualized treatment programs under the supervision of the Health Care Practitioner, including administering medications and obtaining diagnostic tests.
Responds to emergencies and implements proper safety techniques and procedures.
Assists the Health Care Practitioner in medical or minor surgical procedures and implements nutrition and therapeutic diet plans.
Documents nursingencountersand communicates information toappropriate personnelas required by policy and procedure.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
Experience
One (1) or more years clinical experience required
One (1) or more years correctional healthcare experience preferred
Must be willing and able to travel 100% of the time to sites within the designated region
Licenses/Certifications
Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) within the states of practice
Current CPR certification

We're looking for compassionate and skilled nurses to provide care in this important setting. **Location: Must live in the Denver, CO area, with travel required to detention centers at Adams, Arapahoe, Douglas, Weld, and occasionally Eagle, and Elbert Counties.
**Experience: Preferred qualifications include at least 2 years of experience in corrections or emergency medicine.
**Shifts: 4+ shifts per month requirement which includes one weekend, and one major and one minor holiday throughout the year. Must be available for both day and night shifts.
**Scheduling: Schedules will be planned one month in advance but may require flexibility for last-minute assignments based on immediate needs.
**Benefits: Mileage or gas reimbursement provided for travel between sites.
**Positive Attitude is a must!
