Being Thankful For Positive Employment Trends

Faced with uncertainty about your future, you may find job searching to be a challenging time in your life. Job seekers spend countless hours searching for available positions, researching companies and crafting cover letters. Potential employees, though, do have much to be thankful for as the opportunities continue to expand and the economy improves.

A 2015 Jobvite Recruiter Nation survey has revealed that more companies plan to ramp up their hiring efforts, according to Val Matta with CareerShift. Job seekers benefit from not only the opportunities, but also from the new company trends that focus on finding qualified applicants. The survey reveals that one of the up-and-coming business trends is to build and improve employer brands.

Your job search becomes much simpler when companies are willing to make their needs and desires for job candidates public. You no longer have to scour the Internet just to find information about a company's culture when businesses invest in developing employer brands. As a result, you have a better idea of what potential employers seek in candidates to determine if the available position is the right fit for you.

Job satisfaction is also a growing trend, according to the survey. Employers plan to focus more on what employees want to entice qualified job seekers. The trend has developed due to the changing priorities, wants and needs of the younger generation — in particular, new graduates entering the workforce. Millenials seeking jobs often look for positions and companies that focus on improving the greater community. Their priorities span greater than a salary base. The younger generation of applicants have different priorities than older generations, and a genuine concern for the global community is often at the top of the list.

The 2015 LinkedIn survey "Why and How People Change Jobs" reveals that more people find job satisfaction with smaller companies that offer opportunities for employees to make impacts. New graduates and job seekers also find that when working for smaller companies, they have more opportunities to provide input that ultimately impacts and improves productivity and profitability.

It is no secret that salary is a priority for job seekers. National trends adapt to this philosophy, which is something applicants can be thankful for when seeking a lifelong career with an established company. Employer support for raising the minimum wage continues to grow, according to a September 2015 survey by CareerBuilder. Pay increases significantly impact the quality of applicants, which puts more emphases on the skills and experience you possess when applying for jobs.

Positive employment trends that focus on attracting quality candidates are beneficial for job seekers. Take advantage of the opportunities by seeking out potential employers who offer the best company cultures and value the well-being of their employees.
